The Apnea Guard Re-Imagined!

Imagine using a device that allows you to…

…take an initial bite based on literature data for vertical and protrusion and patient comfort…

…then, have the patient use this device to slowly advance their jaw to a literature validated target protrusion while their custom OA is being fabricated…

…then delivering the custom OA at the protrusion the patient comfortably advanced to, while waiting for their custom OA to be fabricated…

…Imagine delivering a custom OA at an advanced protrusion, with the patient comfortably accepting it because they have had a chance to adapt while waiting for their custom OA to be fabricated!

Let me introduce you to the Apnea Guard Re-Imagined!

Toronto is in for a “Real Treat” in January 2020! The creator and developer of the Apnea Guard and Night Shift, Dan Levendowski of Advanced Brain Monitoring will be visiting January 9-10, 2020. We are thrilled to host a FREE evening program on Thursday January 9, 2020 where he will review the science behind the development of these important tools and will also be discussing how to use the new, “Re-Imagined Apnea Guard” to better facilitate OSA Appliance Therapy. Come learn a whole new approach to managing Sleep Apnea with an Oral Appliance…

…Increased efficiency …increased efficacy …with fewer office visits and increased patient comfort!

I am not exaggerating; I have tried it, and I am really excited about this new device and what it has to offer Dental Sleep Medicine!

Dan’s teaching objectives for our evening program will include…

  1. Influence of sleeping position, sex and tongue size on OA outcomes
  2. When Positional Therapy may be preferable to OA as initial therapy choice, and when combination therapy may be needed to optimize outcomes
  3. Use of multi-night positional oximetry to optimize OA and Positional Therapy
  4. Three-night trial to assess benefits of OAT and/or supine avoidance using a trial OA (Apnea Guard, and the Positional Sleep Assessment System (PoSAS) (Night Shift plus WristOx)
  5. The Re-Imagined Apnea Guard and a Re-Imagined Protocol for providing OAT

Dan Levendowski will also be presenting his research at the Toronto General Hospital Sleep Rounds on Friday January 10, 2020 at 8:00 AM, which will be televised to hundreds of Sleep Physicians across Ontario; TGH sleep rounds is definitely the place to be that Friday morning in Toronto if you are a dentist seriously interested in providing OSA appliances. Let the Physicians know you are in the game; make sure you know what they know!

Dan Levendowski’s teaching objectives for the TGH Sleep Rounds will include…

  1. Review the prevalence and methods to identify patients with positional OSA, and the associations between supine sleep and oral appliance therapy outcomes, central sleep apnea and neurodegenerative disease.
  2. Identify interactions between sex and tongue size that should be taken into consideration in the optimization of OAT outcomes.
  3. Evaluate the proportion of CPAP failure patients who might be prescribed supine avoidance as the first line of therapy as compared to OAT, the percentage of patients who would benefit from the addition of supine avoidance to an optimally fitted oral appliance, and the distributions of the cohort whose OSA severity could be reasonably managed with OAT, supine avoidance or both.

Both events are free!

For TGH Rounds, just show up!

Toronto General Hospital Sleep Rounds are held at Toronto General Hospital, Room: GEN025-026 (Enter at Elisabeth St. and turn right before food court and then take first right to room. Room is Ground floor Eaton North, number 025-026)
