The APM Women in Project Management Conference 2023
Hundreds turned out for the annual event, held in Central London on Thursday, 21 September, to be part of the discussion on a wide range of issues relevant to women in project-related roles.

Project professionals on Channel Islands gather at the launch of the new APM branch
We welcomed guests from across the Channel Islands to a launch event for the organisation’s new regional branch, which aims to promote, professionalise and grow the project profession in the local area.
Responding to reports phase two of HS2 may be scrapped
Reports in the national media have suggested that Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt are in talks about scrapping the second stage of the HS2 rail project between Birmingham and Manchester.
According to reports, the talks are due to rising costs and delays occurring with the project. It is estimated that the government has already spent £2.3bn on the second stage and that abandoning the project could save up to £34bn.
In response to these claims, Andrew Baldwin Head of Policy and Public Affairs, Association for Project Management (APM), said: “It is important to recognise, however that constant scope changes to projects can have long term negative effects which can result in their intended economic and societal benefits not being fully realised..."

Chartered Standard applications now open
Our chartered standard applications opened on the 18 September, becoming a Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) enhances your credibility, recognition and career opportunities. It establishes trust, opens doors to new connections and reflects a commitment to ongoing learning.
The name, status and rigor of achieving chartered remain unchanged maintaining the standard's integrity, adhering to principles of validity, flexibility, reliability and fairness. We've kept the standard accessible and enhanced inclusivity by revising its core and elective competences.
After this Friday 29 September, the next submission deadline is Friday 17 November.
Members review
Our members' 2022/23 review highlights our strategic objectives, achievements, successes throughout the year, and future plans. Professor Adam Boddison OBE, our Chief Executive at APM, says, "This year has been noteworthy for achieving significant milestones and building upon the strong foundation we've worked hard to establish."
