A Perfect Jane x Vegan Fashion Week Los Angeles
Did you know we missed our flight to Vegan Fashion Week Los Angeles?
No, this is no joke. I was thrilled that A Perfect Jane had been chosen, as the 1st Dutch brand ever, to participate on the only Vegan Fashion Week in the world in LA. Weeks prior to this major event, I was so busy double checking everything, how many boots, the sizes, ordering merchandise for the goodiebags, new business cards, etc. And when we finally got to the airport they asked for our temporary visa, I thought I would faint. This was absolutely the last thing I thought about. And unfortunately we couldn't arrange it in time to catch our flight.
We got booked on the next flight one day later. But, we already booked a campervan to travel from San Francisco to LA and planned 2 days for this trip. Missing our flight meant we only had 1 day left, so we literally gassed our way to LA, arriving in the middle of the night. Next morning, a taxi picked us up at 6.00 AM (I hardly slept) to go to Vegan Fashion Week. Good news: we arrived in time. It was amazing to see our boots walking down the runway with all press, actors, influencers on front row. Unreal and so cool. Next week, I'll tell you more about what followed after this event.
Guest Writer of this week:
Nicole Lots, Footwear designer & owner of Lots of Design
Hi, I am Nicole, a passionate footwear designer & animal lover
I have been working as a freelance designer since 2008. I lived and worked in many countries, but now I am to my roots and live near the sea in beautiful Zeeland, The Netherlands.
During my study at the Artemis Academy in Amsterdam, I worked as an assistant designer for a company renowned for its brands such as Fila, Kappa, British Knights, and LA Gear, specializing in footwear design. Later, I switched to a company specializing in children's footwear. Following my experience in the industry, I was recruited for a position in Italy to work and reside in Civitanova Marche for the prestigious brand Bikkembergs. When I returned to the Netherlands, I started my freelance career at Lots of Design, collaborating with brands such as Cruyff, an opportunity I cherish very much. Currently, I continue to excel as a freelance designer and product developer, catering to various brands with success. I am very passionate about my collaboration with A Perfect Jane, a brand deeply rooted in my ethos of promoting veganism, which I firmly believe to be the future. Since aligning with this brand, I have adopted a fully vegan lifestyle, experiencing enhanced mental and physical well-being.
My guiding principle is, "Teamwork makes the dream work." I am deeply committed to collaborative efforts, firmly believing that positive energy leads to superior results.
Next to my work as a freelance footwear designer I am a huge animal lover. For my work I travel to Turkey a lot and see a lot of stray dogs living on the streets. After my dog Mucho passed away (top 2 pictures), I decided to help a local rescue center in Turkey and rescued 2 dogs Butter & Biscuit (gotta love those names, they are in the middle & bottom of the picture) and took them back to Holland. I fostered them for a few weeks untill they found their forever home. This gives me so much energy and I will definitely do this more often.
Adopt don't shop. There are so many lovely dogs waiting for adoption.
With love,
Nicole

On trend spring outfits
Spring is coming, and therefore you might want to get your closet ready. By that we obviously do not mean “go buy new fast fashion in colors that you will only wear for one season!” No, let’s make it circular. So for this column, we’re diving into the trends of this spring season that you can easily hop onto by using what’s already in your closet. In this week's edition: denim!
Denim on Denim
This spring, we will be seeing lots of denim. Especially combined with other pieces of denim. Good news, because don’t we all already have some beautiful denim pieces in our closet that can be perfectly re-styled? For example: the denim maxi skirt that was especially popular in the 90’s. Obviously, these can be styled perfectly with our boots. You can perfectly pair your denim items with the Sofie Limited Edition Boots in metallic silver for example, as shown in the photo on the top left below.
Personally I love a good denim (I live in them). Did you know the Amsterdam based brand Kings of Indigo has super cool high quality, low impact denims? They raise the bar when it comes to sustainability & transparancy, one denim at a time.
Give Away Alert!
