Aphantasia
No, this is not the name of a new "American Idol", or a contestant on "Drag Race" ....or a new blockbuster from Disney......its the name of a condition that applies to MANY of the people we in real estate encounter daily.....
Who else but Susan Vanech of COMPASS Westport, CT - a serial renovator and super-star agent - would be better qualified to introduce me to the condition we experience amongst many of our clientele: Aphantasia.... or the inability to voluntarily create a mental picture in your head. People with aphantasia are unable to picture a scene, person, or object, even if it's very familiar, and that includes imagining what a home or room could look like furnished, re-imagined, re-decorated or renovated.....
It is estimated that around one in three people do not have the ability - or limited ability - to imagine things. Knowing the people I see each day, I suspect that percentage may be higher! It is for this reason that as marketers of luxury product (homes), we need to do everything and anything to ease the challenge so many of our clientele deal with by providing imagery, staging, etc that helps them see the future of the homes we sell and rent with as little effort as possible.
Using COMPASS Concierge makes this easier of course: COMPASS pioneered a program that helps finance home improvements and staging to help consumers have a better, clearer vision of the future of a home without having to use their imagination.... then again, those who experience APHANTASIA, Compass Concierge is the perfect solution!
