Is an apartment safer than a house?
Most people choose flat because of only one reason and that is safety .They compromise on garden area,freedom to own a pet ,the burden of maintenance fees ,the nosy association members and of course the sound of the flush from the next apartment.
But it is all really worth it . Are the apartments really a safe haven?
In some apartments,the original owners would have rented out the place. So even the association may not be aware of who is around. As the number of apartment increases in particular building it becomes an area of concern.You have no idea who your neighbor is and going out of the flat,using the lift ,can all get scary.
In some apartments the number of tenants are very less. So you might end up in a floor where you are the only tenant. Looks like it could be a very scary situation or so I have heard from inmates.
Most apartments have securities and maintenance system.But as years pass by,many don’t pay the fees.Some may not live there and hence not willing to pay the fees or some choose just not to because they are not happy with the services provided by the association.Whatever may be the case the maintenance of the apartment suffers.
And if you happen to have bad neighbours in your apartment, it’s harder to simply ignore them. My friend had a neighbor that was an actor and usually had friends coming at about 2am. They yelled and played drums till the morning. Her neighbor on the top had children, and they jumped, stumped, dropped things on the floor and dragged chairs. It was incredibly annoying. I rarely hear my neighbors in my house, and it’s easy to forget I even have any. Basically, people who maybe did not realize that when you stomp and clomp around your apartment, the noise travels.

3 年I have my own doubts on this question. I feel home ( independent house) is much more safer than an apartment ( where more number of people stay in different flats). I do not know whether my concept about home and apartment are right.

I was inclined towards buying an apartment or a villa when the idea of owning a new house arised but after visiting some of friends apartments I realised that they are only good for occasional hangouts but not meant for permanent residents. So I decided to build my own house ?? in a very calm and peaceful location close to the city but away from all road traffic hustles where I would have no restrictions, annoyance from neighbourhood and most importantly creating space/design/Colors of my taste & choice!
