That was the email title I received today, sounds good right? Well that's what they want you to think! It is basically an advertising offer masked as an award. Whilst the Title may well be true I was not being fooled by this one!

So I would like the humbly thank.......you know the drill!

In the old days pre-Internet it used to be a local newspaper giving you an award but you have to sponsor a table for the awards night! Much like the banks and broker buy in the finance industry today to win a dodgy plastic award for their awards cabinets and humble brags on LinkedIn before their data center or something like that goes down! No names mentioned here you know who you are!

So this email comes from APAC Business Times which is obviously a fake version of The Business Times in Singapore, so looks legit upfront but that's the point of the con! To be fair The Business Times charges for its Business Awards as well, so can it too be considered a con? I'll leave you to decide on that for yourself! Maybe this group are just learning from the masters!

The email all looks legit to the untrained eye, a website can sometimes look professional as but not in this case https://apacbusinesstimes.com/ , looks like a local blogger knocked it up in Wordpress for a side hustle working from home!

The website domain ranking is ZERO, they rank for ZERO Keywords and have ZERO Traffic! Why on earth would you pay $2,500 for that crap? Trust me people do (I have worked for people that paid in the past)!
