AP-2007 - the World's fastest MSS also built HST 1330 m Viaduct V3 - 25 different spans in 200 days

This emblematic number was given to this Movable Scaffolding System that has been working in different countries since 2009.

After being in South Korea building Seosang Bridge, this machine came back to Portugal to set excelent performances such as:

- 2 spans of 45 meters weekly

- 1 span of 45 meters in 3 days

Then it went to Spain to build V3 Viaduct near Palencia, an High Speed Train Viaduct, 1330 meters long, with 25 spans varying their lenght from 44 to 55,5 meters along the bridge.

This Viaduct had to cross over a river, a normal road, a railway line and a Motorway, and had a fixed point over an A shape pier - P10.

Due to these situations this viaduct had 5 spans of 44 meters and 20 of 55,5 meters.

Also the internal blocks for prestressing changed location from span to span making more complicated the internal formwork.

The A shape pier also created aditional difficulties for the formwork before and after the pier and also different rebar, and it required 19 days to build the 10th span.

Crossing over the railway, road and Motorway was an easier task with launchings done at night in order to avoid any possibility of accident.

This average result of 8 days per span was once again the result of great interaction with all workers and engineers involved in this project.

To be noted that the MSS could change from spans of different lenghts due to its capacity of quickly adapting cambering.

Also this MSS type is capable to change spans with the same supporting structure and the same formwork.

The Viaduct was executed by Ferrovial Agroman, the deck was built by António Póvoas - Bridge Construction Systems - Portugal.
