AONL and THMA: A Partnership Transforming the Nursing Enterprise

In the Fall of 2023, the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) partnered with the Health Management Academy Nursing Catalyst collaborative to transform the role of the nurse manager and move the needle on innovation across the nursing enterprise.?

Together, AONL and Nursing Catalyst are delivering unparalleled insights to more than 30 Leading Health Systems across the United States on the variables that have the greatest impact on nurse manager workload, which is correlated with several unit outcomes, including care quality, staff satisfaction?and unit innovation.?

The data generated through The Nursing Catalyst Span-of-Control Tool for Frontline Clinical Leaders , a national benchmarking survey, equips nursing executives at leading health systems with actionable information to make investments in unit-level leadership that right-size the nurse manager’s span-of-control.??

More than 1,800 nurse managers responded to the survey in late 2023, which lays the groundwork for advancements in care delivery transformation and continues the momentum to rescope the role of the nurse manager through innovation.?

In celebration of this milestone achievement, Nursing Catalyst is pleased to host an exclusive reception in partnership with AONL at the 2024 Annual Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana on April 9th, 2024.?

Nurse executives who attend will leave the event with a deep appreciation of how the work to uncover the biggest influence on nurse manager workload and to evaluate whether the span-of-control for nurse managers in acute care is appropriate directly impacts their health system.??
