?*How to deal with your period at work??

You’re at work, and surprise! You start your period. You frantically text everyone you know who might have a tampon stash in their desk, and once you’ve acquired said tampon, you slip it up your sleeve or into your pocket and power-walk to the bathroom. We’ve all been there.

What’s wrong with that picture? First, you don’t have access to the products you need in the office when your period sneaks up on you. Second, you feel like you have to hide that you’re menstruating, even though it’s completely normal

You’re not the problem here.

?In 2018, Thinx, a popular period-proof underwear brand, found that 42 percent of women experienced period-shaming at work.?

Like you, 73 percent have hidden a pad or tampon on their way to the bathroom,?

and 58 percent report feeling embarrassed at work because of their period.

Periods can affect us mentally and emotionally

The Mayo Clinic lists the following emotional and behavioral symptoms for premenstrual syndrome (which can also extend into the beginning part of your cycle):

  • Tension or anxiety
  • Crying spells
  • Depressed mood
  • Mood swings
  • Poor concentration
  • Social withdrawal
  • Insomnia

Ever felt like you were going to fall asleep at your desk or been in a meeting that made you anxious??

That doesn’t mean you’re bad at your job—it means you’re a human being, and your mental or physical health shouldn't suffer because your manager doesn’t take periods seriously! Check in on yourself and communicate how you're feeling ahead of cycle day 1.?

Here are a few tips for dealing with your period at work:

  1. Plan ahead: Make sure you have enough supplies, such as pads or tampons moon cups etc, on hand.
  2. Manage your symptoms: If you experience cramps or other discomfort, consider taking natural pain relievers or using a heating pad.
  3. Take breaks: If you're experiencing cramps or discomfort, take a few minutes to step away from your desk and stretch or take a walk.
  4. Be open with your employer: If you need to take time off or make adjustments to your work schedule, talk to your employer and see if accommodations can be made. If not, maybe it's time to reflect on your current company choice and move on! Lady you will be bleeding every month for approx 40 years of your life put yourself first?
  5. Keep a change of clothes on hand: In case of any unexpected leaks.
  6. Wear comfortable clothing: Choose clothing that is comfortable and easy to move in,
  7. Take care of yourself: Make sure you are getting enough rest and staying hydrated.
  8. Be mindful of your mental health: Menstruation can affect your mood and mental well-being, so make sure to take care of yourself and seek support if needed.

It's important to remember that menstruation is a normal bodily function and you should not feel ashamed or embarrassed about it!?
