Anything you can do, I can do better

Anything you can do, I can do better

Imagine you are about to get the biggest promotion of your career. You’ve worked for it. You’ve earned it.

You DESERVE it!

Then a phrase you never thought you would hear in today’s workforce hits you…

“Women can’t lead.”

Did reading that make you as mad as I was hearing it?

I was Marketing Director at a footwear company when my boss got promoted to President from VP of Marketing and Sales. I had been doing most of the marketing part of his job already and he felt strongly about promoting me to that position.

The CEO and Owner however felt differently. He was a more traditional leader from Taiwan who ran our factories in China with a top-down approach.

His response to the suggestion was, “Women can’t lead.”

To my boss’s credit, he believed in me so much that he didn’t give up.

As well, two other people stepped up to put in a good word for me. All three made the case that women could lead, that we have just as much capability as men do.

And, as it turns out, he was persuaded and I got the job.

You see, women are great leaders.

In fact, I believe that our feminine leadership strengths are exactly what the world needs today.

This is what gets me out of bed every morning, to help more women succeed in leadership roles.

Our society needs:

?? Leaders that can bring diverse people together to co-create solutions that couldn’t come from just one person.

?? Leaders that are more concerned with developing those around them than taking the limelight for themselves.

?? Leaders who are ready to take on tough problems and change outdated ways of working that aren't serving us anymore with integrity and honesty to all stakeholders.

?? Leaders who inspire and motivate others to be their best selves and create teams that perform at their highest potential.

This is what women bring to our workforce.

Unfortunately, we don’t always get the support we need because life's demands on us are different.

It can lead to frustration and burnout.

I developed the Sisters in Leadership program to address the unique challenges that women face as they move up the ladder to higher levels of leadership.

You shouldn’t feel stuck where you are in your career, that’s where something like leadership coaching and development comes in.
