"Anything worth doing, is worth doing poorly until you can do it properly"

"Anything worth doing, is worth doing poorly until you can do it properly"

A quote that made me think (and write) from Zig Ziglar

Well, that is how I started writing about Budget Your Energy or B.Y.E. I thought to myself it’s really worth doing and if you have read the earlier writings you will notice that my writing was poor but intention was rich. My second writing called ‘Why B.Y.E’ states clearly that I asked myself, “Where should I start” and then my conscious replied “At the beginning”

Have you ever felt like you were not good enough to do something that you wanted to?

Have you ever been discouraged by the thought of not being perfect at something from the start?

I know I have.

The fear of failure or the need for perfection often holds us back from just doing. We hesitate to start something new because we fear we will not be good enough, or we will make mistakes along the way. However, this kind of thinking is a poor delegation of energy, and leads me to ask you two questions.

  1. Do you have something in your life that you are really good at now?
  2. Were you as good at this “something”when you started?

I believe you possibly started with a level of natural talent that would have encouraged you to peruse it, and make it less likely to fail and therefore more comfortable and confident. However, I would be very surprised if you have not got better through practice.

Zig Ziglar, was recorded and appeared on a podcast I was listening to and said, "Anything worth doing, is worth doing poorly until you can do it properly." This quote speaks to the power of persistence and the importance of embracing a growth mindset.

In other words, it is better to start doing something and doing it poorly than not doing it at all. When we commit to pursuing our goals, we create positive habits and routines that lead to progress.

Creating positive habits is a powerful tool for progress. As the saying goes, "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." When we make something a habit, it becomes easier and more natural over time.

There is a fantastic book on this called “The Power of Habit” which discusses the psychology behind this in more detail.

There are a couple of steps and efforts necessary to build better habits that I have used, and you will probably have to endure the level of being poor at the habit until you can enjoy doing it properly.

I am sure you are aware by now that I believe it is crucial to Budget Your Energy and time effectively. This means prioritizing the things that are most important to us and dedicating time to them regularly. As I have said before, we should break down our goals into smaller, manageable tasks that we can focus on daily. In this way, we can make steady progress towards our goals without overwhelming ourselves.

I started writing 30mins a week, moved to an hour a week and now not only do I do more then that in a week and month but I am also able to produce these writing more efficiently and use the dedicated time better.

This makes me feel like I have achieved something and that makes me feel good.

Next, it's essential to maintain a positive mental attitude especially when you are not very good at the beginning. Embrace the journey and process towards your goals and celebrate your progress, no matter how small. We must remind ourselves that every step we take towards our goals is progress, even if it is not perfect.

The power of a positive attitude cannot be overstated. When we maintain a positive mindset, we attract positive energy, experiences and people into our lives. Therefore we are more likely to stay motivated and committed to our goals, even when faced with setbacks.

The quote by Zig Ziglar reminds us that progress is more important than perfection. It encourages us to take action towards our goals, even if we start poorly. By creating positive habits and routines, Budgeting Your Energy and time, and maintaining a positive mindset you will make steady progress towards your goals.

Remember, progress is not about being perfect; it's about enjoying the process of growth and learning. Success is not a destination; it's a journey. Therefore, embrace the journey and celebrate your moments of progress along the way.

And have a progressive day ahead.
