Is anything too hard for the Lord?
God told Abraham that in his old age, he would father a son. When Abraham’s wife Sarah heard this, she laughed. Both Abraham and Sarah were passed the age where they could have a child humanly. (Genesis 18:13-14)
?Is anything too hard for the Lord? This article will deal with that question.
Jeremiah 32:17?answers this question beautifully “O Sovereign LORD! You made the heavens and earth with your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you! Jeremiah knew that if God made everything, then He could certainly control it all.
There are over 30,000 promises in the Bible, and every one of them is yes and amen in the Lord Jesus Christ. There is no promise too hard for God to fulfill. Jeremiah 32:27 says “I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?
God cannot lie; if He says He will do it, then He will do it. (Titus 1:2) It is contrary to God’s nature to lie; He will not tell a lie. There is no promise that God cannot keep. There is no prayer too hard for God to answer. Anything we can believe God for, we can have.
Almighty God is not limited by circumstances. There is nothing that lies beyond the reach of prayer except that which lies outside the will of God. There is no problem too big for God to solve.
When God solves our problem, He may not solve it in the way we think He ought. God’s thoughts are not our thoughts. Sometimes His ways are mysterious, and the solution may be different than we think. We live in time, and God lives in eternity. He will never be ahead of time, and He will never be late. We all experience problems, but we have a God who answers by fire, by power, by grace, and by love. Many times, we try to tell God exactly how to solve the problem, and God does it sometimes very differently than we would have.
When we want God to do something about the evil in the world, we may wonder why He does not kill the devil.
God does not kill the devil; He put His Son on the cross. When the children of Israel were in the wilderness and being bitten by poisonous serpents, they asked Moses to pray to the Lord that He might take away the snakes. But God had Moses lift a brazen serpent upon a pole and told the people to look upon it and live. (Numbers 21:8) God raised a solution amid that pollution.
There is no person too hard for God to save. Anybody who wants to be saved can be saved. Isaiah 1:18. no man, woman, boy, or girl is too hard for God to save if they will yield to the Lord Jesus Christ. If nothing is too hard for God if He can solve every problem, and if He can save every person, then why doesn’t it happen? Because men limit God.
God will not force Himself upon us. ?In the Bible, Matthew 23:37 says, "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often have I desired to gather your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!" God wants to give us peace, comfort, hope, security, and salvation; but we must be willing. There is nothing too hard for God, but He will allow us to make a choice. God says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation. (2 Corinthians 6:2)
We cannot be neutral about the Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew 12:30 says ?“Anyone who isn’t with me opposes me, and anyone who isn’t working with me is actually working against me.”
The church of Laodicea was lukewarm. Jesus is standing on the outside, knocking on the door. (Revelation 3:20)
Nothing is too hard for the Lord, but we must open the door. So many people are so concerned and busy with other things that they never even hear the voice of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is not that He cannot, but He will not if we are unconcerned and will not open the door to Him.
God cannot work in some lives because of our unreasonableness, our prejudices, and preconceived ideas. God says in Isaiah 1:18 “Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.”
Many people will not give up their ideas for God’s truth. The only thing that God asks us to give up is that which will hurt harm or condemn us. Psalm 84:11 says, "For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honour; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless."
Remember Sin in our lives keeps God from blessing us and working with us. Isaiah 59:1-2 in the Bible says, "Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, that he will not hear." Unconfessed, and unrepented of sin in our lives have kept us from the good things that God wants to give us.
God wants to bless us, but we cannot let go of our sins. We would rather bind the hands that want to comfort, bless, save, and heal than give up our sins. We only limit the Lord.
Sin of Unbelief more than anything else limits the Almighty. All sin is terrible, but this sin is devastating. The Lord Jesus gives sight to the blind and hearing to the deaf. He makes the lame leap and turns the water into wine. But in His hometown, He did not do many mighty works because of their unbelief. Matthew 13:58 says “And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.”
God wants to work miracles in our lives if we believe. Faith is the channel through which the risen Lord pours His life into us, but we can tie His hands by unbelief. Faith is the key that causes the shackles to fall from the hands of the Lord Jesus. Consider the majesty of God’s limitless power:
There is nothing too hard for God.
There is no promise too hard for God to keep.
There is no prayer too hard for Him to answer.
There is no problem too difficult for Him to solve.
There is no promise too hard for God to fulfill.
There is no prayer too hard for God to answer.
There is no problem too big for God to solve.
There is no person too hard for God to save.
Yet, if there is nothing too hard for God, why doesn’t it happen? Because men limit God.?Psalm 78:41?says,”?Yes, again and again they tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel. “IN WHAT WAY WE MAY LIMIT THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL. The immediate cause of Israel people "limiting the Holy One of Israel" was, no doubt, their unbelief; but this their unbelief seemed to have a cause, and that cause was their forgetfulness of God's mercies. "They remembered not His hand"
To limit the Holy One of Israel is —
1.?To bring down the Creator to the standard of the creature. To limit God is to limit His power, and He is omnipotent. There is nothing difficult with God. To limit the Omnipotent is another word for denying Him to be God. We limit the Holy One of Israel by DICTATING TO HIM. Shall mortal dare to dictate to his Creator? Shall it be possible that man shall lay down his commands, and expect the King of heaven to pay homage to his arrogance? Will a mortal impiously say, "Not Thy will but mine be done"?
2.?Disbelieving His Holy Word- To limit Jehovah is to limit His wisdom, and He is omniscient. He knows every thought, every desire, every misgiving, every infirmity, every sinking of heart; He knows it all. But this is to deny Him, as such. ?Doubt is constantly taking the circumference of God with the compasses of man, and measuring His movements by earthly moths. rustics, and estimating His force and His ages by our notations and mechanics. How frequently men, walk amidst the very mysteries and eternities of Godhead only to limit the Holy One of Israel.
3.?Ungrateful reflection upon Him for past mercies. Sin limits the Holy One of Israel: the corrupt influence in the mind — in the heart, the perverted imagination, the perverted will. Sin closes the avenues by which God enters the human soul, and narrows the Divine Being in the conception. How dreadful does it seem, that man should build for himself a prison in which he shelters himself from the Almighty!?
4.?To limit our mercies and enjoyments. He says, "Be it unto you according unto your faith." We limit Him when we have misgivings as to His faithfulness. He has given a promise; and how seldom can you and I say, "I believe it simply because God says it; I do not take it now on the testimony of saints, I take it simply because God says it; God declares it, and I believe it!" But when we do not do so, how is there a secret limiting of the faithfulness that is truth? — for "He cannot deny Himself"; He not only does not, but He cannot. We limit Him when we mark out a line for His sovereignty, whereas "He gives no account of any of His matters." How is it possible for the Creator to be limited by his creature?
Because He allows it; He allows Himself to be chained and bound, restricted from working in our lives. We chain Him with our unwillingness.
God will not force Himself upon you. He wants to bless you, but you must be willing to receive it.
We chain Him with unconcern. When we are completely indifferent, it breaks His heart, because He cannot move in an apathetic life.
We chain Him with unreasonableness, our prejudices, and pre-conceived ideas. We do not want to give up our dirt for His diamonds.
We chain Him with uncleanliness. Unconfessed, un-repented of sin keeps God from blessing us and working with us.
We chain Him with our unbelief. Faith is the channel through which the risen Lord pours His life into you. But you will tie His hands by unbelief. Faith is the key that causes the shackles to fall from the hands of our Lord Jesus Christ. Have you ever limited the Lord’s work in your life? Have you chained Him with unwillingness, unconcern, unreasonableness, uncleanliness, or unbelief?
Examine your heart and life today and choose to unleash God’s limitless power in your life. His mighty, powerful hands are also loving hands that are reaching out to us. Call upon Jesus today. Repent (turn) from your sins, and turn to Jesus. Ask Him to forgive your sins, and acknowledge Him as Lord of your life.
