Is there any sign of 'change fatigue' abating in 2024?

I expect like me, you’ve heard the term “Change Fatigue” countless times in 2023. Recruiters are no strangers to change. Clients are generally talking to us for one of two reasons – either someone has left, and they need a replacement; or the business needs have changed and there is a new role to adjust to this requirement. Candidates are generally talking to us for one reason – they are interested in a new role.

The employment landscape seems to have gone through a significant upheaval in the last 12 months or so, changes in Government at Federal, State and Local level, along with numerous changes at CEO corporate level roles is likely to mean further changes in 2024 as strategies and policies are developed and implemented.

Remote and hybrid working are likely to continue as hot topics for employee and employer alike, although in some instances quite disparate views around productivity, innovation and culture.

As we head into the last few working days of 2023, and prepare to Leap into 2024 (yes, there is a 29th of February in next year’s calendar!), I think change fatigue is here to stay. What will set apart employees, is their ability to display a can-do attitude and along with ‘hiring for skills’ will be my pick on a macro trend that will shape candidate applicants being successful. Employers who work hard on Wellness aspects of their culture and can articulate that within their Employee Value Proposition will similarly be more successful in picking up candidates across all career stages, especially new and early career entrants.

The heady days of 2022 are now firmly in the rear vision mirror, with salaries offered being more conservative per the trend in the latter half of this year continuing into next. I'll share an article in the comments that gives more details later today.
