Is Any One Out there

It's been a busy week doing what I do, which is simply being Kez, Mentor, Author & Artist. When I wrote about being a cheerleader last week it was commented on by a few all in a positive way which is the way it should be. Today I scribe about feeling lonely when we have so many digital connections. I find being digitally connected to the globe can be a tad overwhelming as I can be deep into writing an article or with my trusty palette knife on a canvas. So I will not answer a call or a message, checking the screen to make sure it's not a family member or a client I mentor. If I answered all calls and messages I would be 24-seven in front of my laptop, so why the heading? Is there anyone out there? Well, I truly believe face-to-face socializing for me is not as it used to be, since face time, zoom or any other media that connects us, that is all my social life seems to do, you pour yourself a wine or a cup of tea, pull up a chair and on-screen we go. I miss the face-to-face, the body language, the welcome hugs, and the greetings. They say covid was a blessing in discuss as it gave us all time, well screen time I must agree. I see the 45+ and younger posting where they have been and why. Yet, talking to friends 60+ including myself, we have never felt more set apart than today.
So, my week consisted of editing my next book, videoing book reviews, placing those reviews into magazines, and mentoring clients, however when one client asked if we could forget the book she was writing, wanting to tell me about her week, a little surprised I agreed to listen to the outpouring of grief when she spoke about her Dog, Mum & family member all extremely ill the results not good 'prepare for the worst" I wanted to hug her. Two-three years ago I would have, today I could only listen over a cold digital platform. Another friend was holidaying overseas when she was attacked, I could hear her anguish and sadness in her voice, I wanted to hug her so tight, tell her she was not a victim but a target. I rang her, and she messaged back, but the human connection was not there. So am I lonely? I guess you could say that or am I Old school? I love meeting face to face, meeting at a café or Yes, I'm home, pop around for a Cuppa. My daily ritual consists of posting something pleasant, heart-warming, and positive on two platforms, why? to remind others life is an adventure, then it's back to the keyboard or the easel. Looking forward to the day, we can meet face to face.
Is there anyone out there? I hope so.
