Do you want to gain skills for managing your anxiety? Join us for this series of online sessions that will provide ideas and strategies for coping with anxiety from an experienced facilitator and mental health professional, Dr Chris Taua.

These interactive sessions will also provide?an opportunity to ask questions, share information and connect with others. Participants can actively participate or stay?anonymous with their camera off (although participation is encouraged).?Sessions and registration details are private and confidential.   1. Cycle of Anxiety Monday 18 March, 6.00pm - 7.30pm The cycle of anxiety is when an event or situation happens, and the person feels a lack of control or fear?and avoids coping in order to escape intense emotions. In this short webinar we will discuss how anxiety often comes in four stages, and how understanding this cycle may help you navigate your experiences.
  2. Challenging Anxious Thoughts Monday 25 March, 6.00pm - 7.30pm Anxious thoughts can become all-encompassing and interfere with other aspects of life we want to get on with. In this week’s webinar we will take an objective look at those anxious thoughts and how they impact us. Thinking about a situation in a realistic, more balanced way can help break the vicious circle of anxiety.
  3. Coping Strategies - Healthy vs. Unhealthy Monday 8 April, 6.00pm - 7.30pm Coping strategies are the actions we take to deal with stress, problems or uncomfortable emotions. Unhealthy coping strategies, while sometimes providing instant gratification or relief, can have negative long-term consequences. This week we will consider healthy coping strategies that can contribute to long-lasting positive outcomes.
  4. Cognitive Restructuring: Decatastrophising Monday 15 April, 6.00pm - 7.30pm Cognitive distortions are irrational thoughts that have the power to influence how we feel. These are often normal, however too many can interfere with everyday life. This week’s webinar will encourage you to identify ways to question and amend those thoughts.?
  5. Cultivating Mindfulness Monday 22 April, 6.00pm - 7.30pm Mindfulness, simply put, means paying attention to the present moment. It assists us to take a step back to notice the world around us while also noticing our inner experiences, thoughts, and feelings.?In this week’s webinar we will discuss an array of mindfulness exercise and tools.

Facilitator:?Dr?Chris Taua is a registered nurse by profession with a background in mental health. She has over 30 years' experience in health/disability sectors.?

Participation:?While sharing and active participation (via video or audio) is encouraged, participants may attend with their camera off and listen without involvement if they choose.?

Access:?A device (laptop, tablet, phone) with internet access is required as sessions run over Zoom.?

Privacy:?Sessions and registration details are private and confidential. By attending, participants must agree to keep attendee's details and stories that are shared confidential.?Participants can remain anonymous if they chose.
