Today, I am diving into practical techniques to help you stay calm and composed, even when the boardroom feels like a pressure cooker.

Understanding Boardroom Anxiety

First and foremost it is important for you to know that anxiety in high-pressure situations is not a sign of weakness – it's your body's natural response to stress. The key is learning to channel this energy productively.

3 Techniques to Master Boardroom Calm

  1. The 4-2-7 Breath Inhale quietly through your nose for 4 seconds. Hold your breath for 2 seconds. Exhale completely through your mouth for 7 seconds Repeat 4 times. Here is why it works: This technique activates your parasympathetic nervous system, triggering a relaxation response.
  2. Grounding Exercise Discreetly press your feet into the floor. Focus on the sensation for 5-10 seconds. Take a deep breath. Why it works: Grounding exercises help anchor you in the present moment, reducing anxiety about future outcomes.
  3. Visualization Before your meeting, visualize yourself performing confidently and successfully. Engage all your senses in this mental rehearsal. Why it works: Visualization primes your brain for success and can significantly reduce performance anxiety.


Putting It Into Practice

Choose one or two techniques that resonate with you and practice them regularly. The key is to make these tools second nature, so you can easily access them when you need them most.
