Anwar: Good Governance and Clear Policies Fuel Malaysia's Economic Growth
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim attributes Malaysia's recent economic growth to effective governance and clear policy directions, particularly in key sectors such as industrial development, digital transformation, energy, and semiconductors.
However, Anwar, who also serves as the finance minister, emphasized in a recent post on his X page that Malaysia still has significant potential for improvement.
Anwar highlighted the importance of continuing this upward momentum: "More people are recognizing that Malaysia requires a dynamic and meaningful shift to sustain economic growth. Without this, we risk falling back into a sluggish economic state."
He stressed that Malaysia's current political stability offers a valuable opportunity to enhance governance, implement responsible management practices, and further boost the nation's global standing.
The Prime Minister is currently attending the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits in Vientiane, Laos, where he and the Malaysian delegation participated in high-level meetings with ASEAN leaders and dialogue partners. These partners include Australia, China, Japan, India, South Korea, the United States, and Canada.
Anwar also attended a gathering at the official residence of Malaysia’s Ambassador to Laos, Edi Irwan Mahmud, where he met with embassy staff. During the summit, Chinese Premier Li Qiang and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken were among the key figures participating in the discussions.
The ASEAN Summit will conclude with Laos officially handing over the ASEAN chairmanship to Malaysia, further solidifying the country's regional leadership role.
