Shark Tank India 4: Anupam Mittal and Namita Thapar Clash Over Gofig’s Pitch

Anupam Mittal Questions Namita Thapar's Role on Shark Tank India: 'Shouldn't Be On the Show If Uncomfortable With That...

Tensions ran high in the latest episode of Shark Tank India 4 when husband-wife duo Disha and Gaurav pitched their business, Gofig, which sells surplus and near-expiry products to prevent waste. They revealed a staggering fact: food worth Rs 50,000 crore is wasted annually due to expiration. Seeking Rs 50 lakh for 2% equity, the duo valued their business at Rs 25 crore and proposed partnering with brands to sell these products through alternative channels.

While the pitch was compelling, the real drama unfolded among the sharks. Anupam Mittal took a jab at Gaurav’s family business and drew Namita Thapar into the conversation, noting she had also inherited her company. Things escalated when Anupam asked the couple, “Do you even need to work for money now?” Namita immediately called out the question, saying, “What kind of question is that?”

Anupam stood his ground, defending his stance: “This is Shark Tank, it’s capitalism in its true form. If you’re uncomfortable with that question, you shouldn’t be here.” He also criticized Gofig’s business model, urging them to focus on physical stores instead of a B2B approach.

Namita countered Anupam’s remarks, stating that it’s possible to make money while benefiting society, though she ultimately chose not to invest. Aman Gupta, Ritesh Agarwal, Peyush Bansal, and the other sharks also passed on the deal, leaving the couple without an investment.

Despite walking away empty-handed, Gofig’s mission to tackle food waste left a strong impression on viewers.
