On a recent episode of the Know Stroke Podcast (June 20th Season 4 Episode 2) it was our pleasure to be joined by Dan Kendall.
Dan is the founder and Managing Director at Mission Based Media. Dan has 20+ years experience in growing profitable and sustainable businesses in health technology, mobile and cloud computing, and telecommunications in domestic and international markets.?
I admit I've borrowed part of a line from Dan for the title of this article from one of the many topics we covered with Dan, including "antibodies to healthcare innovation". This was a brilliant conversation and a common theme resonated around the passion we all share for podcasting as we unpacked a deeper dive into Dan's story and his mission.
[Personal Sidebar] Dan's words have stuck with me and futher inspired the work we are doing to improve the stroke patient and caregiver experience.
More on Dan's Quote: We were discussing innovation in healthcare especially around patient education and improving health outcomes for a variety of conditions. Dan made the statement -
"there are a lot of antibodies to protect against that infection of innovation". -Dan Kendall
This observation holds true in much of the work we all might be doing today in digital health and Dan does a great job providing related examples that we dive into during the podcast specific to vital and often lacking patient education. I know they'll resonate with you too, especially if you've had to learn quickly about a condition that has impacted you directly or a loved one and there wasn't a solution available.
I encourage you all to give this episode a listen! I believe the work Dan is doing is brilliant and we are happy to announce a bit of a teaser on this episode how my co-host Mike Garrow and I will be joining Dan in a partnership project planned for stroke as part of his Health Unmuted series.
This episode's discussion does not focus solely on stroke. Instead we talk about the impact that podcasts can make in the transition of care for patients and caregivers of not just stroke, but all conditions.? If you haven't yet listened to the new short form podcast series Dan is building with his team at Health Unmuted, I suggest you give it a listen. We talk about the innovative Alzheimer's series on our podcast with Dan as well, but here's the link to this series so you can listen and share as well.
During our interview with Dan we also unpacked these topics:

? A lived experience of a caregiver to his daughter being diagnosed with Type1 Diabetes?
? Why podcasts should be incorporated into a discharge?
? Health Unmuted: A mini-series of short episodes focused on the specific conditions
? What would a post stroke mini series look like?
? Announcement of a partnership between Health Unmuted and Know Stroke to develop a mini-series
? What does the evolution of podcasting look like over the next 5 years?
