Antibiotic Formula: Take Action - Give Kudos!
My youngest king is missing his first day of school due to an ear infection. Doctor Bartlett says everything is under control. Keep doing what you are doing and let the antibiotic take its' course of action.
Unable to determine if the infection was bacterial or viral, he assured me there was no need to worry. Ended the appointment with a few dry jokes and Noah looking at me like "am I suppose to laugh?" Kids...right.
The visit itself reminded me of the mid year report that Intel released a few weeks ago. This brief 10 page pdf detailed the company's internal efforts and progress made towards establishing a more diverse workplace culture.
Their antibiotic to a lack of inclusion has been calculated to include the hearts and minds of internal leadership, committed resources, external consultants, and curious evangelists such as myself and others.
“We believe that creating a fully diverse and inclusive workplace is fundamental to how we deliver business results. As technology and markets continue to evolve, building and growing a workforce that is fully representative of the customers we serve and communities in which we operate is paramount to our success.”
- Brian Krzanich, Chief Executive Officer, Intel
Most antibiotics serve one purpose, to remove the cause for the discomfort and/or illness. Simple as that. Prescription will vary but it requires one to consume something. To take action. Intel devised the same.
A few notable data points from the report and other press releases scattered throughout this year:
-
invest $300MM to accelerate diversity and inclusion across the technology industry at large
-
implemented measurable programs directly tied to compensation for all employees and managers
-
committed to spending $1 billion with diverse-owned businesses for Intel’s global supply chain by 2020
-
This Dashboard is distributed weekly to the CEO and the executive team, and regularly distributed to Intel Vice Presidents and Fellows
Essentially underscoring the company interest in not only identifying new employee talent but also adding to their supply chain of professional service providers and vendors. Plenty of encouragement for small business owners.
When companies are doing a great job, I believe we should say so. Let them know their effort is not going unnoticed and that we are here to hold them accountable but also equally as willing to say job well done.

9 年Good point Torin Ellis. We can't just talk about what's wrong but equally amplify what's being done to right the wrongs. I think that will add fuel to the corrective fire.

9 年Well said and glad to see/hear Intel still in the arena.
