The Anti-Wrinkle Peptide
SYN?-AKE?is a patented anti-wrinkle peptide with a Botox-like effect. It reduces wrinkles and delays the appearance of wrinkles that are caused by constant facial movements. Those lead to muscle contractions and finally mimic wrinkles. For the first time, a new study approach has shown the development of these mimic wrinkles on the basis of mothers and daughters.
In vivo mother-daughter study
Mothers (50–65 years) and daughters (21–35 years) were selected for the study because scientific evidence suggests that they age very similarly. The Primoslite?(3D measuring system) was used to record the relaxed and tense facial expressions of mothers and daughters before and after the application of SYN?-AKE. The results showed that daughters with tense facial expressions have a similar wrinkle pattern as their mothers with relaxed facial expressions.
To test the efficacy of SYN?-AKE, the study participants used a cream containing SYN?-AKE 4 % versus a placebo twice a day for four weeks. After completion of the study, the mimic wrinkles of the mothers and daughters were measured again with the Primoslite. This revealed a reduction in visible wrinkles (mothers) and fine lines not yet visible to the naked eye (daughters).
Consequently, the application of SYN?-AKE at a young age can delay the appearance of visible expression lines – with an age-freezing effect.
Botox-like effect
The inspiration for the anti-wrinkle peptide SYN?-AKE was the poison of the temple viper. Similar to Botox, it has a strong muscle-relaxing effect. This effect is due to the polypeptide Waglerin-1, which is found in snake venom. With SYN?-AKE, DSM succeeded in synthetically recreating the most important sequences of Waglerin-1.

SYN?-AKE reduces the contraction of the muscle cells and thus supports the relaxation of the facial muscles – without any loss of facial expression.
