Over the course of the last decade,?we?struggled to cope with the social stress of followers, ‘close’ friends, tags and inauthentic posts.?Our followers define our friendships.?How many followers we have on social media define our friends we have. We follow, like, and tag a friend in an attempt to parade our friendship to others.

However, the truth is, our behaviour on social media is the farthest thing from a real friendship. We spend hours planning the perfect look for a photo. We obsess over people’s response and comments instead of our real feelings of the moments. This social stress brings us into a vicious cycle:?a competition of faking true feelings where nobody wins.?The more time we spend on these pressured social interactions, the less likely we are?to build a?meaningful?friendship. And so,?the cycle continues…?

Someone who is faking their feelings, so called fake friends, are like soap bubbles. They pop into our lives only on the good days. Someone liking our Christmas party pictures does not mean they care. Unfortunately, this pressure to maintain relationships online and to fake our real feelings may prevent us from thinking about sharing with the genuine people in that mix.

App to unmask fake friends.?We did this by?building a?“check on friends” feature,?giving you insight into?who truly?cares?about you.?With this,?each time a friend checks in, you will be notified and asked what you are doing (WYD).?You can reply stress-free in those non-highlight moments.?You can also?see if?a?friend has revisited?your previous conversation?(a unique feature only we have) and?you can?track all the secret?care gifted by?your friends.?

Once you connect with a friend on Fr. App, we help manage your relationships.?We provide an option to?identify someone?as your best friend, notifying your friend in return.?We value?this Best Friend?tag?so much and build personal page differently. You can see who tagged your friends as a best friend on their page.?We don’t show how many people follow you. The number we show is how many friend?requests you’ve accepted.??

More than staying connected with friends,?you can even?explore friend’s connections on their pages?– see how many mutual friends, who?tagged?them as best friends, and people you might know.?

With over four million users, we developed our video messaging app with the sole aim of highlighting and nurturing those connections that matter. It’s never about the number of followers but always about the way we engage and the quality of our relationships and friendships. We knew it was time to re-assess our online friendships. We wanted to unmask relationships and get back to basics and true feelings. In doing so, we can be more authentic and weed out frenemies, ambivalence, and fake or even toxic friends. It gives more control over what we share and with who.
