For those of us onboard the M.V. Marco Polo as she undertook the circumnavigation from Ushuaia, Tierra Del Fuego, to Christchurch, New Zealand, Antarctica became one of?the Wonders of the World, where Nature holds her most beautiful concert. On a sunny day, when all around the ice is suffused with the blue light of the sea and sky, this is the land of all lands. The sea appears not like water, but cut crystal, the surface shimmering azure, layered on emerald depths. Every Bay is a perfect picture, every penguin a movie star.
