Welcome to the 12th episode of my engineering exploration series. Today, we will look in detail the process of saving and sharing ANSYS project, ensuring seamless recreation and execution on different systems. But before we delve into this, let’s set the stage with a brief overview of ANSYS, a powerhouse in engineering simulation software.
ANSYS: A Multifaceted Solution
Ansys is Multiphysics engineering simulation software, catering to diverse needs spanning product design, testing, and engineering system analysis. There are large number of Ansys products available that ranges from 3D design to Digital Twin, thus ANSYS offers a comprehensive toolkit for engineers. While mastering every tool might seem daunting, familiarity with select tools, particularly those dealing with 3D Design, Fluids, and Structures, lays a solid foundation. For a comprehensive list of ANSYS products, refer to the official ANSYS website.
ANSYS Workbench
Although all the ANSYS products can be independently used for specific use cases, Ansys Workbench platform lets the user integrate data across many elements of the ANSYS suite to create more accurate and efficient models. Boasting a user-friendly interface, ANSYS Workbench streamlines the complex simulation process, integrating diverse simulation tools with robust FE solvers and post-processing functionalities.
Understanding ANSYS File Formats
Given the breadth of ANSYS functionality, it’s no surprise that it generates and array of file formats. From .wbpj for Workbench project files to .cdb for coded database files, each format plays a vital role in encapsulating project data. Other popular output file formats of Ansys ecosystem systems are as follows:
Transferring ANSYS Projects
Now, let’s look at how we can transfer ANSYS project between computers. We’ll explore two methods to accomplish this:
