Learn from other Founders

Many people from underserved communities want to see change and do something about it. Some choose to support existing organizations through donations. However, there are those who want to be the change-makers! If you are one of those people, congratulations! Your journey is about to begin.

Before you start, spend the next four Saturdays with local groups that do the work you want to do. This experience will help you understand their daily lives and challenges.

Listening to nonprofit founders can also be beneficial. Their stories reveal the passion and struggle they face in their work. You can learn how to stay motivated during tough times. Additionally, talking to leaders who are new to the field can provide valuable insights. They can share their mistakes and how they turned them into successes, helping you avoid the same errors.

Networking is essential too. Attend workshops on nonprofit management. These events will show you the challenges others face and give you a chance to meet people who share your goals. Building a network can support your efforts and inspire new ideas.

Lastly, research local organizations that may be struggling. If you find one that is about to shut down, you could help revive it. As you move forward, I wish you great success! Your hard work can bring real change to the lives of those you help.
