“And if you faithfully obey the voice of the?Lord?your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the?Lord?your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the?Lord?your God. Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl…” -
I read a quote last week from the Bible app that said, “in the end, the answer to all our questions and problems is not to be found in who we are but in who God is.” We are not the answer and God has tried to tell us that for many years. Despite what we are told by others. We must put our faith in God and trust that he will give us what we need. Not always what we want, but what we need to have in our lives. Trust me I definitely do know this. All the unanswered prayers of things I wanted and never received; it is no wonder why I wasn’t religious for so long. I thought God was against me and not there for me, when all along he was always there for me I just wasn’t open to find him and allow him in.
Why do we always think we have to do everything on our own to get what we want. Jesus said we only had two basic needs in life, food and clothing. Now, that was due to him not having a place he settled in and the third basic need that we all know of today is shelter. In my mind I think that God felt he provided us with everything we need and that was good enough and would make us happy. Most of it does not seem that is the case, and maybe I am wrong about all of this, but many people don’t step back and appreciate the things they have and are always striving for more. And by no means am I saying you are wrong. But what is the real cost of all the more want that we are trying to get?
I remember one day telling someone I was happy with what I had, and really, I am. Something a few years back kind of started to click in my mind of why I had all this stuff and it seemed as if I would just buy more and not ever catch up from all I spent. My late grandfather would always tell us we didn’t need things to be happy and that shiny things wasn’t everything in life. And now I really think I am starting to realize that as I am starting to be able to enjoy my kids, my wife, and everything around us. It took a while for me to see, but those around you are extremely important and those in your life are what makes life much more worth living. Helping each other and providing for each other.
God will provide us with what we need and when we need it. We just have to have faith in him and that is all.
I do not write these stories for anything other than to invite you to church with me and see the world from a different view. Regardless of whether we are in the same area or not, I invite you to church to maybe see things in a different light
