the answer was in there all along
It started with a vision based on a need, just as many do.
The joke about Outsourced IT companies is that we get blamed if there is not enough parking or the coffee machine isn’t working.
So here we are, an Outsourced IT Company that has over thirty local DFW nonprofits as clients. Yep, the joke applies to them too. The difference, though, is that they are the first ones to ask us if we know someone that can pave a parking lot or fix a coffee maker. We’ve always had an impressive Rolodex to lead them to; many were clients of ours. On one particular day of an ask, we didn’t have someone in our Rolodex, and the Vision was born.
Would it be of value for the local nonprofits if Dallas-Fort Worth had a list of mission-minded for-profit businesses?
The founder of my company and I couldn’t answer that. We started to meet with the leaders of our nonprofit clients. The vision was blurry with no end and no plan. Immediately after hearing the vision, our clients started to give me business cards, names, and introductions to the mission-minded for-profit partners they knew.
I was also given counsel, guidance, and wisdom. They reassured me that the vision would form and continue to evolve into something remarkable. They were right, hitting the target in a short period. The group started to form with amazing servant-hearted, mission-minded, for-profit business leaders from all over the industry spectrum.
As we reached a dozen or so people, we thought we should have a name that encapsulates our mission and vision. Our vision was simple:
“Build a group of mission-friendly service organization professionals. Collaborate, provide knowledge, insight, and guidance to the members to help our businesses and those we serve. Foster remarkable relationships amongst the members. Establish a trusted collection of Mission Friendly Resources for our clients, providing above and beyond value for those we serve. Help to make a positive difference to the members, clients, and our community.”
As for our name, the answer was in there all along - to be a resource for those we serve.
The DFW Nonprofit Resource Group was born.
