Ansible and ELK explorations on GitHub
NetCraftsmen's web page is still being re-designed. The new version should launch soon. I've got a backlog of blogs drafted for posting there.
While that is still in progress, I'll like to call attention to some content I've placed up on GitHub. I did post links to this material previously on Twitter and LinkedIn. This is a reminder of what's there.
First, I took some VXLAN EVPN (single site) Ansible work some Cisco folks published, updated it to work with the versions of Ansible and related Cisco modules at that time, and worked with it a little to get a feel for Ansible. I posted them in case you're interested in exploring what Ansible can do for you in that context. (The answer is, a lot!)
The other category is six (6) PDF's, draft blogs I wrote while experimenting with an ELK stack. The specific use case I explored was Cisco syslog reporting, using each of the tools to see what I could get in the way of reporting. The PDF's contain lots of screen captures that might be of use if you're trying to get started with an ELK stack (I hope!). I would have liked to do more with that and other ELK use cases, but it started feeling like the ROI in terms of effort vs. other people's likely interest in a "ELK syslog solution" just isn't there. (Re-inventing a sort of free limited Splunk is just not happening!)
Anyway, they both can be found at the following URL: https://github.com/pjw1024
Enjoy!
