Today we continue talking to you about quality and we do it by bringing you a real example of what happened to us recently. As always, we follow our procedure for control and preparation of lots, after a few days we receive the notification of non-compliance. We begin to check by comparing ourselves with the customer, as always, and we discover that we were both right, simply they were measuring differently.

This made us understand that it is necessary to adopt an objective measurement tool, we chose ANOVA Gauge R&R. Generally, we identify a characteristic to be measured, we calibrate the necessary control instrument (in the metrology room) by carrying out some measurements to determine the "nominal" measurement. At this point we identify the operators to be tested and we carry out a certain number of measurements. Using the average, we obtain the measurement value that we compare with the nominal value.

What we are looking for through this tool is a correct measurement system for precision and accuracy. So that, we know for sure how much we deviate from the expected value and act accordingly. This becomes a valid ally when we have to verify the process capability, useful to understand how much the production process is standardised.
