Note from Stanley

This is the best book I have read this year!

As many of you know, I read a lot. This year I've read 44 books and should probably squeeze in 4 or 5 more before the end of the year.

But, Will, by Will Smith & Mark Manson is a standout.

I could go on about it for this entire newsletter.

But the reason I bring it up is that as we wrap up another year around the sun, it pays to reflect on the year that was.

And this book offers that same experience of Will, reflecting on his own 53 trips around the sun.

If there were one quote for me to take out of this book to share with you in this short note, it would be this.

"Impermanence is the only thing you can truly rely on."

Could there be a truer word ever said?

Will explained this quote by telling a short story. It goes like this.

"A man is standing on the banks of a treacherous raging river.

It's rainy season.

If he can't get to the other side, he is done.

He quickly builds himself a raft and uses it to get himself across the river.

In joyous relief, he high fives himself lifts the raft and heads towards the forest.

But as he attempts to make his way through the dense tree cover.

The raft is banging and knocking into trees and becoming entangled in vines.

Preventing him from moving forward.

He only has one chance of survival.

He must leave the raft behind.

The vessel that saved his life yesterday is the same one that will kill him today if he does not let it go."

The raft represents our outmoded ideas and old ways of thinking that potentially won't serve us as we head into 2022.

What are the things you are holding on to today because of the joy and success they brought you in the past that will not serve you as you venture into the new year?

If we have all learned one thing these past two years, it's that life isn't fixed. Things change constantly.

Are you ready for the new year?

Make sure you take some time off this summer to reflect on the year that has been and leave your rafts behind so you can venture safely through the forest ahead of you.

Have a great Christmas and we'll see you all in the new year.

Cheers,

Stanley Henry

Here at The Attention Seeker, the majority of us love Christmas (bar Stan) haha.

One of the best things about Krupa having The Attention Seeker as her client is that no one can be a Grinch! If Krupa and Sian are excited about the idea, it's bound to be set in motion.

We are constantly finding fun ways to bond, connect and create content.

What better way to end the year than office Secret Santa!

But how were we going to make it "Attention Seeking" enough?

Of course, we decided to film an unboxing.

Check out our fun team video to see who got who what!

This week we had a special guest on our podcast.

It was our boss, Stan!

Picking up where we left off last week, we spoke to Stan about everything personal branding.

As expected, we got some pretty great insights into Stan’s process, his outlook, and his thoughts.

Tune in to Sian and Shreya’s LinkedIn Rewind for a fun chat about the world of personal branding.?

6 WAYS TO STAY ACTIVE ON LINKEDIN OVER THE HOLIDAYS:

Ok, so it’s almost the end of another year and it’s definitely been an interesting one for us in New Zealand.

Here at ATTN SEEKER, we’ve gone about doing our thing – We didn’t stop working during the break and we even hired two new staff members during the lockdown.

As you guys know, the majority of our work is done on LinkedIn. With the year coming to an end, one would assume that activity on social media would slow down a fair bit, considering that people will be taking a break.

BUT that doesn’t mean you need to stop posting, especially on a platform like LinkedIn.

We caught up with Stan, our boss, Managing Director at The Attention Seeker, and LinkedIn Influencer extraordinaire and asked him a bunch of stuff about staying relevant on social media during the holidays. Here’s a summary of what he had to say:

1)?????A lot of people may not be creating, but a lot of people continue consuming content over the holidays, so the holidays might be the perfect time for you to continue posting on LinkedIn.?A certain section of people will be consuming content there and if a lot of people aren’t posting, your content will get higher visibility.

2)?????Make sure the content you post is relevant and current because it’s the holidays and people are definitely not going to be in work mode.

3)?????Give people some food for thought! A lot of people regroup during the break and might be more likely to consume content that compels them to reconsider their business strategies or their general approach to things.

4)?????Make sure that you don’t ignore your audience. If they’re engaging with your content or just posting in general, make sure you keep the engagement up from your end as well.

5)?????You have time over the holidays, so build up your content library. Take photos, write down your thoughts. It’ll help you build a collection of content that you can use later on.

6)?????Lastly, make sure you’re all caught up with your LinkedIn feed. If you’ve missed out on responding to comments and messages, make sure you do that. You have enough downtime to look through your profile and get on top of it.

We thought that these were pretty great tips to stay on top of your LinkedIn game if you’re trying to stay active and relevant on there during the holiday period.

Let us know if you found these helpful and if you would be interested in seeing content like this in the future.

For the time being, from the team here at The Attention Seeker, we would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

See you guys in 2022.
