Another step forward in reducing carbon emissions-Electricity - Carbon Reduction

Xinhua News Agency, Nanjing, January 12 (Reporter He Leijing) The reporter learned from the State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Co., Ltd. that Jiangsu will increase its efforts in upgrading and upgrading power equipment in 2025 and carry out large-scale power equipment gas updates, exceeding 10,000 tons. Sulfur hexafluoride will be replaced to help power security, energy conservation and emission reduction.

Promoting equipment renewal is one of the important measures to promote investment and consumption. Unlike general solid equipment renewal, gas renewal and transformation are not common. Sulfur hexafluoride gas is widely used in power equipment due to its electrical insulation and arc-extinguishing properties. However, it is not easily decomposed and absorbed, and long-term accumulation can easily induce a certain greenhouse effect. After years of technological exploration, the power energy industry is promoting the mixed use of nitrogen and sulfur hexafluoride to achieve comprehensive optimization in equipment safety and environmental protection.

"The installed capacity of sulfur hexafluoride gas-related equipment in Jiangsu's power grid ranks among the top in the country. It is difficult to update and transform, but it can greatly promote energy conservation and emission reduction of power grid equipment and help promote the energy technology revolution." Equipment Management of State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Co., Ltd. Wei Chao, director of the Ministry's Substation Division, said that the update work will continue until 2028, involving more than 400 large substations and about 4,000 related electrical equipment in the province.

In order to improve the gas renewal efficiency, State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Co., Ltd. independently developed a rapid gas mixing replacement device for sulfur hexafluoride gas. One set of devices can increase the gas renewal efficiency of the equipment by more than three times. "Take the Nantong 110 kV Development Zone substation as an example. After the transformation, it can save 438 kilograms of sulfur hexafluoride gas usage and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 10,468 tons. Through new technologies, the originally planned 9-day transformation time can be shortened to less than 3 days. , greatly reducing the impact of the update work on production and life," said Yang Jinggang, director of the Power Transmission and Transformation Technology Center of the Electric Power Research Institute of State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Co., Ltd.
