Another Reason Why a Software Overlay Isn't Necessary.
With VM tracker auto-config Cisco Nexus automates vlan, SVI, VRF and BGP configs for MP-BGP VXLAN. VM Tracker provides edge visibility of vswitch, ESXi host, VMs and its uplink. Whether its ACI or VXLAN the network policy provisioning from virtual machine across the physical fabric is taken care of. Changes made to VMs on Vcenter UI are reflected on physical network infrastructure dynamically.

8 年Regardless, managing two networks is the option with the highest operational costs, which is what happens when you use that software overlay. Can't fault you for your viewpoint... none of us do this for free.

8 年Jason Gmitter, it's not an attack. I never mentioned NSX or VMW in my message. I am just a sales guy saying that categorizing "all software" leaves a lot of customers with only one choice and that is hardware. Now see you in the backyard for a beer when this rain stops

8 年software overlay isn't necessary because Cisco has an affiliation to sell more expensive hardware and then prescribe the methods to achieve the complexity with even more hardware. Software does what hardware can't, code faster to introduce more features to leverage hardware for max utility.
