Another one for the books!
Earlier this month Kevin Debevere and and SAMBRE AGRICULTURE METHANISATION ENVIRONNEMENT represented by Luc Dessars signed the final works acceptance document. With this signature many months of work come to an end.
The construction of a anaerobic digestion installation within the Val de Sambre territory was born out of a collaboration between Sambre Agriculture Méthanisation Environnement and the Maubeuge-Val de Sambre Agglomeration Community. The objective of this biogas and digestate production project is to enhance the economic and energy resources of the territory and to provide an opportunity at the local level to farmers and the community.
"A good communication between Bio-Dynamics and other contractors on site proved to be critical. Our regional network and knowledge of the local regulations were critical in finishing the project on schedule" Kevin Debevere
The construction of an anaerobic digestion unit can be at the initiative of a group of farmers, a local authority, a collective of citizens or wastewater treatment plants. In the case of CAMVS, the project is the result of a partnership between a group of farmers and the community itself. It led to the creation of SAME, which has a total of 18 partners, including 17 farmers and the agglomeration. "This is the first time in France that a conurbation has collaborated as a shareholder in a farmers' association. We are all equal in capital and in voice", says Luc Dessars, farmer and also president of SAS SAME.
The AD project is the result of a long process with the agglomeration, the farmers, the city of Feignies, the Hauts de France Region, the environmental protection associations as well as the French state through the intermediary of the Chamber of Agriculture. It was made possible thanks to external funding totaling approx. 12 million euros.
"In situ concrete tanks remain the most durable method of (digester) tank building. With an economic lifetime of over 50 years the customer chose in situ over other methods. Bio-Dynamics also boasted several references in the region which certainly helped to secure the project. We were present from very early on and helped the customer design a plant built for generations" Thomas Van Damme
