Another note from that old insurance guy . . .
I found out today I failed. Miserably. No, the company didn’t call or write and tell me I’d messed up. No client came in hollering that a claim wasn’t paid, or that their policy didn’t get issued. I didn’t look in a file and notice something I’d missed which would cause a problem with a policy. None of those happened; they would be much easier to accept than the truth.
I saw a client post a Go Fun me account on my newsfeed on Facebook to pay for a funeral.
I had failed because I couldn’t get the couple to understand the necessity of having life insurance. Oh, I protected their house and all 3 cars. They even wanted an umbrella, which I provided. They’d referred several people to me, and were great clients. I’d answered many questions for them, and they were friends as much as clients in the end.
No, it’s not an indigent couple; the gentleman was working, and his wife is now a 50 year old widow. She was always a stay at home Mom. He was a good, hard working man. And both are college graduates. Then one day he had a heart attack, and he was gone. I’m certain the last thing he would have wanted was his wife going online looking to figure out how to pay for a funeral. The children live about the country, and have families of their own, and just can’t afford to put up a lot of money, and I’m sure neither of the parents would want that to happen, either.
Nope; I failed, so she now has a Go Fund Me account with $135 dollars in it to pay for her husband’s funeral, and needs a job quickly to pay the rest of the bills.
I’m not asking you buy insurance from me in this case; just make sure you get life insurance somewhere so that this doesn’t happen to your family.
