Another Nightmare Plummets Our World: Over 5000 Lost. How do we Overcome the Catastrophic Nature of Covid-19?

When a new decade beckoned, there were lots of high hopes.

Everyone was beaming with expectations. 2020 was seeming like a year set aside for dreams to become a reality.

On a personal basis, 2020 glowed with more hope than I have ever imagined. Not yet in the second quarter, and we are already closing borders.

Yeah, this time, not Ebola nor an Uprising in Africa; But Coronavirus and the world as a whole.

At the onset, there wasn’t much to worry about. China is a grown-up country; they wouldn't have a hard time taking care of themselves.

Necessary measures were taken, and it seemed like the coronavirus was fleeing. We all thought it was going to be business as usual in no time.

Bit by bit, little by little, door after door, Covid-19 is becoming a global epidemic.

Italy, US, Australia, Belgium, China, Finland, Germany, Egypt, Tunisia, Netherland, India, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Austria, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden Taiwan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Greece, Brazil, Israel, Vietnam, and the list goes on.

With over 5,000 gone—panic is becoming a reality.

Don’t panic, they say: but how would a dying man stay calm. Stay home they would recommend, but I won’t lie, home is a bit scary now.

Rumors of the outbreak getting into Nigeria went rampant. I couldn't explain the chill that went down my spine when my little cousin caught flu 'the thought of such mild and gentle cough being the beginning of an end was more than a nightmare.'

Being miles away from this epidemic, I wouldn’t be able to explain what the actual plight would feel like. But since I am miles away from this epidemic, ‘I can get on my knees in prayer, hoping for a quick turnaround.'

I might not be able to explain the mental state of those who have lost a loved one to the unfair hands of despair that Covid-19 brought along— but the plight is not any less real.

Soccer won’t be shown on TV this weekend.

Holidays and vacations to Disney and the likes are beyond reach at the moment.

As to whether we would be able to find a vaccine or cure at a probable time, we can't say for certain.

Yeah, closing borders and quarantining the man next door is becoming a necessary measure—but I don’t think that’s all we can do to get our world out of this nightmare.

I know asking you to believe in a God at a time like this wouldn’t change much, but in desperate times like this, we need as many hands as we can hold.

It takes nothing to say a prayer.

Even if not for anything else—for our kids.

Many of them have and would still be turned into homeless orphans at this rate.

We can’t afford to panic.

Whether you are a Muslim, Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, or maybe you prefer the secular path. {We have no room for discrimination at this moment}.

Call on your God.

Even if you feel a cure is beyond his reach; Call on him for the strength to show courage at this ninth hour.

For the grace to understand how we are meant to scale through.

To determine the individual roles we are meant to play.

If you see this and you are already infected, don't worry, there are better days ahead.

If you are residing in any of the countries with a high rate of infected individuals; don't lose hope, we would get through this.

And if you are like me, not yet inflicted with the pain most of the affected individuals have to go through on a daily; be a beacon of hope and light to them.

We can do better, not just on social media but also in our prayer lives.

We can’t provide reasonable reasons as to why God is watching us go through this phase, but we can ask for the strength to scale through.

Create a hopeful hashtag, Pray, Fast, Contemplate, Meditate.

In any way possible, let's reach out in prayers to all those afflicted with Covid-19.
