Another GDTBATH
Last night I had yet another moment as a student athlete at Carolina that made me look around and feel beyond thankful for the opportunities we have. The Rams Club at Carolina allowed all student athletes to watch the new movie Air the night before it premiered.
For anyone who has not seen the trailer, Air essentially highlights Sonny Vaccaro and Nike's pursuit of Michael Jordan. This would revolutionize sports, shoes, and culture as we know it today.
I might be one of the least qualified people to put out a movie review. But, for anyone who is curious of my opinion, which is probably no one… I absolutely loved it.
Something about Air that I loved was the fact that I was nervous about what was going to happen next even though we all know in the end, Jordan ends up with Nike. If you can be on the edge of your seat during a movie where you know how it ends, I feel that shows the story was well told. ?
I am also a sucker for a movie with a good soundtrack and this one delivered. Every scene with a song had me bobbing my head or playing the air drums in my seat.
All in all, I think Ben Affleck killed it with this one. I learned so much about how the shoes I wear on my feet every game day came to be.
I am so thankful to the Rams Club and UNC for giving me that experience with my best friends.
How cool is it to be in a bought-out theatre filled, with UNC athletes, watching a movie about our greatest alum of all time? Does it get any better than that? I don’t think so.
