Another DEC 31st but not another 2024

Another DEC 31st but not another 2024

Like most people, or maybe I should say like most Nigerians, I started the year with gratitude, thanking God for the new year, praying & fasting, setting big hopes, and telling myself, This is going to be the year!”

Fast forward to midyear, it wasn’t looking so great. Anxiety hit, fears crept in, and my emotions? All over the place.

One minute, I was so sure of myself; the next, I was questioning everything. But I held on to God like my life depended on it (because it does) and somehow kept my hope alive.

Now here we are at the end of the year, and the feelings are mixed.

Did I check all the boxes?

Did I grow where it mattered?

Did I enjoy the year?

Despite these questions ehn, I’m soooo happy.

Why?

Because I made it through every battle, every challenge, and had several victories.

The Highlights This year was a rollercoaster of wins, lessons, and what-now moments. To be more specific:

  • For me, the year started with an email I’d been waiting for: ?? Promoted to Customer Experience Lead.” Despite leading the team since 2023, it finally became official??. From there, it was all about making the team improve, revising the processes and smashing team goals??
  • In between, switching to a new CRM tool happened. God! it was a wild ride full of doubts, setbacks, and breakthroughs, but we made it work??
  • Again this year, I hosted events that pushed me out of my comfort zone, like the first CX Hangout, Techies Without Code virtual village sessions and working as a QA Tester for DevFest WI (Devfest Lagos 2024). Each project taught me new skills, how to use new tools, one of which is Zapier (seriously, that tool makes sense).
  • Attended a few conferences ( Wetech , Cowrywise ) to add to my knowledge and to share what I learnt with those around me that might need it, because, really, why not?
  • Ended the year on a high note as one of the top performers in the last quarter with a solid 8.91/10.

The main tea: This year taught me so much about myself, my worth, my capabilities, and how much I can do. I learned to protect myself and keep the right people around me. I inspired others, got inspired in return, and kept showing up even when it was hard.

It’s been a ride, but I’m grateful for every moment. Here’s to the lessons, the growth, and the anticipation of what’s next.

Signed,

Ibukun Ogunmola.
