Another day, another big upgrade

Today's post made yesterday me stop and share around the house. When that happens, I know something has broken through.
In August, I held a workshop where one resource I shared was a Guide to Prompting Techniques that I developed for myself and attendees. The document is 161 pages with the Table of Contents and Glossary.
After a recommendation from a colleague, yesterday I uploaded the document to NotebookLM - an experimental, private AI research assistant, from Google.
Anything you upload to Notebook is private to your Notebook and isn't data that will go into Gemini for training. That's important to know because this experimental tool already passes security hurdles that other Google services don't. It guarantees Workspace accounts (corporate users) their data will never be reviewed by humans or go into training data..
One of the most interesting features is the audio summary. This team made a really interesting decision; they went with a two speaker podcast format to launch. I wasn't expecting it and I wasn't sure how I'd feel about it.
Here's the 8 minute overview it produced, including their personal stories about prompting. I don't have any control yet over the voices, their style, or the ability to edit the script it produces. I encourage you to listen all the way through to think about what they're talking about but also the implications in your own work.
Were there points when you were listening that you forgot they were AI hosts? That they had never seen my prompting guide until last night?
I want to know what you think before I share my feelings about it in the comments. I'll wait for a few before I weigh in.

5 个月I am very impressed with the audio summary. Storytelling has long been critical, especially when introducing a new product or service innovation to a jaded market. Converting the list of features into a coherent story about the resulting business impact has been part of the dark art of marketing - particularly if one needs brand, image, and company consistency. With a minimum of training, this audio summary in Notebook can get you more than 90% of the way there. And as the feature matures, being able to push consistent messaging out in myriad formats (podcasts, website video/audio, etc.) evens the playing field between the large solution providers and the small, nimble providers. Thanks Keith - this is fascinating!!

5 个月Innovative approach, Keith! Transforming traditional documents into engaging audio formats can enhance accessibility and understanding. It’s exciting to see how technology can reshape communication in business. What other applications do you envision for this kind of transformation?
