Another Cargo milestone

This Saturday marks a big milestone here at Cargo , as we have our second team member marking 10 years with us.?

In amongst the promotion of new work or project wins, it’s important that we celebrate our team - the people who deliver our work - and over the last 10 years so much of our creative output has been driven by Carl Rutherford . That's him in the header image, drawing our stolen mantra on the studio wall late one night back in 2015.

Carl joined us a decade ago after cutting his teeth at another North East agency. I first met him during my short stint in education working at Newcastle College while he was a student. He always applied himself well, showed commitment and worked hard, and I always had an inkling we may work together some day.?

In coming to us he brought a wealth of experience, was already very commercially aware, knowledgable across a whole range of disciplines, and whilst by his own admission hadn’t done a lot of digital work he embraced the challenge of learning this as he recognised the importance of it to us going forward.

We share similar thoughts and ideas around the industry, and therefore the same values that we hold as an agency - deliver amazing work, collaborate with clients, love the details, never sit in silence and embrace change.

At Cargo we are lucky to have core members of our team that have been with us for this long - building relationships not only as a team, but with our clients helps deliver better work and makes for positive results.?

Carl’s commitment to our clients over the years has been amazing - and anyone knows that in order to achieve goals, from time to time?you need to put in the time outside of the 9 to 5. Carl does this regularly, so his 10 years is probably more like 12.

This commitment impacts home life, and therefore it’s not just his time which he gives, it is also support from his family which doesn’t go unnoticed.

Therefore, sometime in the not-to-distant future he’ll be having a short break away - on us - to kick back and relax with his wife and young family. He might stop thinking about work for a bit, but I doubt it.

I hope he will look back at the last 10 years with a smile on his face knowing the vast input he has had on getting Cargo to where it is today.
