Not another bloody Coach, everyone is “a coach” COACHES SUCK!

Not another bloody Coach, everyone is “a coach” COACHES SUCK!

It seems over night the new phenomenon of online coaches has exploded.

Every idiot out there is now a self-proclaimed coach.

Every second post on LinkedIn is someone with their latest (insert acronym here) program that will change your life for ever, because they and only they, hold the key to happily ever after for you.

They package and sell a coaching, course or books that plays to your emotions, and let’s be honest the pain everyone is living with daily. They hook you emotionally to grab your wallet and when they have grabbed it, THEY RUN. They don’t massage the money out your wallet, they GRAB and RUN and you never hear from them again, do they even care about you and your outcome after money changes hands?

"The Dawn of Coach Inc"

Yes, it’s the dawn of COACH Inc where they have their gatherings, thousands flock to meet them, to have the pleasure to shake their hands, to touch the “awesome”.

They are chased, worshiped and adored by obsessed broken groupies seeking to fill the empty inside, with the success of this new Guru of the month.

May of the events re reminiscent of an Evangelist’s crusade where people open their wallets in the hopes of greater things without connecting their God created minds before doing so.

"DIY Coach"

So, what does it take to become a coach today?

Simple, add it to your LinkedIn profile, you are now a “Coach” as ordained by….well you! Now you have the label, you can make money from unsuspecting people because YOU say you can do it. You Rape, you Pillage because your Purpose is the green $$$ and people are actually a pain in the ass to you.

People are used and hate Coaches more because of your “hack faker practice”

Don’t get me wrong, coaching has its place, its powerful and makes a difference, BUT

You need the right coach for you!

"Not all coaches are equal."

Realistically just because coach x worked for so and so does not mean they are a good fit for you.

How do you go about sifting through the steaming piles of empty promises in the coaching environment today, so you don’t put your foot in a steaming cow puck?

(full disclosure I am a coach but really loath the term as its limiting and I am more than just the label, personally want to vomit at the term coach because of how it has been abused. BUT I coach/eentor because I make a difference and have a purpose and passion in doing it, just ask those I work with)

These were the things I found worked to sift when I was on my journey through the mind field of “coaches” out there, many took me for a ride, sold smoke and mirrors and different shades and flavors of BS (hence why I write this article from experience)

  1.  Check out the coach, listen less to the RaRa sales pitch and posts but more what drives them to do it, that’s not what they SAY drives them but what actually drives them. Remember actions speak louder than words. A coach who you can not reach directly 1:1 who says they have a passion to see people change, stop and ask is that true if you can’t connect with them as a person BEFORE paying?
  2. Look at qualifications, and again google them, verify them and see if they are worth the paper they are printed on. Hec I can print a certificate on my printer here in seconds, its less useful than toilet paper. Check that the qualification is inline with who you are and your outcomes. That said there are some great coaches out there with no formal qualifications, so this is why getting to know them, and digging is key to avoid losing a gem.
  3. Check if the coach is affiliated to any accountability or regulating body, you want a basic level of ethics and quality control before you use them. You don’t want a lone ranger
  4. Get to know the coach, “date before you marry” ask the hard questions, see how they answer. Are they focused on YOU or your wallet?
  5. The slicker the sales pitch the slimier the coach I find. If they are brilliant word smiths to part you from your money, they are slick because they are slimy!
  6. What is the Coaches Purpose, and does it line up with what and how they do life?
  7. Last and MOST important, LISTEN TO YOUR GUT, the 1st reaction to them not the over rationalized head response.
  8. Coaches who offer GUARANTEES or your money back RUN, its a tactic used to part you from your money and close the deal for them. Almost NONE honor their word after they have your money and will claim "you never did the work" so no refund.
  9. Coaches asking for the FULL payment upfront RUN as well, once they have your money they care less, rather negotiate as pay per month option so if they suck and are all smoke and mirrors you can cut and go.
  10. Coaches who play to your emotions or worse emotionally manipulate in the "sales" phase are more focused on the $$ they will get than your required outcomes. Careful as their crafted words and fake caring are used to manipulate you to pay your money.
  11. Coaches who offer your a chance to be part of their "bigger" coaching oragnisation after you sign up with them so you can make money coaching via them, its a ploy, slimy sales approach. I personally have seen this used by 2 coaches i explored working with (and I am a coach/mentor/trainer myself)

Coaching is extremely valuable and life changing WHEN you find the right coach.

Its emotional and money sucking HELL when you with the wrong one.

Take the time to Date before you Buy.

I hope my experience of coaching, the good, the bad, and the ugly may help you filter through the BS and find the gems.

For me personally, I coach, mentor, and Train, the line between the 3 is really grey, and frankly I hate boxes as they add no value really.

I am 100% Coach and 100% Mentor and 100% Trainer in how I work, adapting, customizing my approach to each individual I work with. You are unique and an individual, and you deserve to be treated as such. Selling off the shelf 1:1l coaching as some do, creates boring little boxes. So if you want to be a boring little box PLEASE DO NOT contact me for coaching/mentoring/training, I don't do boring, bland, fake, vanilla, average, because that's NOT what you were created to be I assure you.

Don’t let the idiot poser faker ROACH COACHES out there keep you from the life you need and want.

Fight for it.

Make it Happen. You deserve it.

There was one of those LinkedIn blurbs about coaches and how they are the new personal trainers. At this point? Almost everyone on this site is a coach. Certified or self proclaimed. One of my better received articles was "Confessions of an Unlicensed Massage Therapist". I might rub someone's shoulders- supply and demand. I would not charge for it. Wouldn't feel right taking money for basic human decency.??
