I’ve been asked by my growth team to be more active on LinkedIn. I’ll probably elaborate on this in a later post but for now I figured a 2021 recap would be a great place to start.?
2021 was an AMAZING year for me:
- We kicked off the year with our first ever full-on Digifianz retreat. While the whole country was in Panic Mode about coronavirus and avoiding all personal contact, we gathered most of our team on a private island for 4 days. Every Defier willing to risk infection was invited to come, we also understood and respected those who couldn’t. All Defiers were free to choose for themselves.
- At the retreat, we had a Wim Hof Method seminar and did Ice baths as a group. We had to overcome every instinct in our bodies that screamed GET OUT and seek comfort. Everyone did it. This was my first ice bath. Throughout the year I went on to do over 20 Ice baths lasting up to 7mins each.
- Halfway through the year, Daniel and I felt we needed more clarity on where we were headed. We went on our first Founder’s retreat and layed out a clear three year vision for Digifianz and put words to the principles that have guided us from the very beginning.
- I reconnected with my buddy from my Students For Liberty days, McCobin, when we ran our first Spartan Race together in February. We then went on to spend the month of August in isolation in the middle of the forest in Pennsylvania, co-working, co-living, and co-training for our first 21k & first OCR mountain race. We also discovered the beauty of cooking Ribeyes directly on top of burning wood.?
- Joined Conscious Capitalism and met amazing leaders who are having a positive impact on the world through the actions they're taking in their business.
- Competed at the OCRWC Obstacle Course Racing World Championships. I had 4 races, broke my foot on the second and went on to compete on the third the same day, hopping on my good foot. I then had two foot surgeries and cut my pain meds at <10% of my prescription.?
- I spent nearly half of the year injured, including three months with a pirate’s leg (can’t bear any weight on my foot yet). At first I thought this would get me depressed and dreaded the idea. I ended up doing most of what I usually do simply with one leg. Most importantly, I worked on keeping a positive attitude through my recovery by keeping up with my training and staying active, mentally and socially.?
- Exercised my God-given right to civil disobedience and non-compliance, encouraging others to do the same. To shape their own minds instead of following the arbitrary rules of flawed terrestrial rulers without questioning.
- Deepened my personal connection with God in my own Christian agnostic manner through literature, documentaries, conversation and hours upon hours of meditation and prayer.
- Read and/or reread 9 novels including The Fountainhead, Crime & Punishment, and War & Peace (I had a Russian streak there); 13 personal growth books including Spartan Up, Beyond Order and Deep Survival; and 11 business books including Extreme Ownership The 10x Rule and Humanocracy and applied ideas learned in all of them to Digifianz.
- With Digifianz, we directly provided work for over 70 people, and helped over 30 businesses to professionalize and integrate their Marketing, Sales and Services Teams while cementing our company culture of nonconformism, and free & critical thinking. Also doubled our MRR in the process and achieved amazing results for our clients.
- Self-taught nearly 1000 new German words mainly through Duolingo, watching German TV Shows and listening to German Podcasts & Music. Regardless of the method, I kept the habit of practicing my German every day throughout the year.?
- I quit Netflix & TV for over 4 months. My thought process was: if you watch 2 hours of TV per day, that's 1 month per year. You can do a lot of sh** in that time.?
- Most importantly, people. I met amazing and inspiring people that left me deep lessons for life. I reconnected with old friends and strengthened many friendships. I got to visit my family and spend some quality time with my sister's kids, stepping out of adulthood and challenging myself to be a kid again with them.
- No matter what I did, I had SO MUCH FUN.
We are all called to be exceptional, to be extraordinary, to do amazing things with our bodies and our minds. And yet, so few of us are willing to step out of our comfort zones and reach our full potential.
Looking back on my 2021, I'm more convinced than ever:
Although I have many great heights to go, I am already so proud of my process. I feel awesome. I am awesome.
I am not awesome by nature. I'm awesome by will. And it is in you to be awesome as well. You just have to WILL it.
Join me in my quest for greatness, for transcendence.?
Be you. The fully maxed out, best version of YOU.
And if you need a hand, reach out. I love to see others achieve greatness.
Ps. We're hiring at Digifianz, where greatness and non-conformism is encouraged ?? https://www.digifianz.com/careers
