The Anonymous User is the Participation Trophy of Your Life

I recently logged into my Audible Account to see how sales were going for my first book, Anomaly (I promise this isn’t a book just praising Anomaly). I was ecstatic because there was a new review. And it was a positive one. As an author, when a book is purchased on Amazon, Audible or bookstore, we have almost zero idea who is buying a copy.

It’s a big challenge. These stores do not inform us. I suppose it’s so they can keep the data on you and get the sales rather than us. It’s smart of them, but pains me because I just want to say hey. Again, when you buy in any matter than directly from my site or if I meet you in person, I have zero clue that you did. You could be a family member who bought seven copies and I would have no idea that you did. Unless you printed the receipt and mailed me a copy. Now that would be silly!?

We are challenged into creating lead magnets or strategies in which we convince you to want more by subscribing to something we do. In exchange for our “extra thing” you give us your contact info. A minimum of your name and email address. That way us authors, or anyone providing content can talk with you later. Yay!?

So I am checking Audible and I see this review. It’s headline: “Amazing guide to differentiating yourself/business”. I love it!

I think this person spelled Anomaly wrong on purpose too. Super smart, cuz I definitely did a discount double check on it to see if it was on purpose.?

I would love to know who provided this review. But I don’t. All it says is Anonymous User.?

I posted about this review online thanking whoever in internetland it was. To no avail. This got me thinking, from an idea spun up from Rowdy Mark Rowan . A friend, fellow Mountaineer fan and a good dude who created a 41 chapter video review of Anomaly in 2018. Talk about a solid dude. The Anonymous User at the crux is the majority. Those who just scroll, consume and are present, but not really. They are the flies on the wall. The Anonymous User doesn’t stand out. They never get seen. And they question why every single day.?

To me, it’s obvious. They are not raising their hand, they are following the leader. They, or dare I say, you are just checking off the checklist. You and I both know that’s not enough. Yes, you have to show up, but you must participate. And participate hard. As the best boss ever, Michael Scott stole from Wayne Gretzky, you miss 100% of the shots you never take.?

Take some shots. Sure you won’t miss them all. Michael Jordan missed 50% of his shots, got cut in high school, yet, he went on to be the GOAT.?
