Anointed Purpose
Today in The Leadership Walk: A Devotional for Leaders of Today and Tomorrow
“This is what the Lord says to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of to subdue nations before him and to strip kings of their armor, to open doors before him so that gates will not be shut" - Isaiah 45:1.
The Lord refers to Cyrus as "his anointed" even though Cyrus was a pagan king. God had chosen him to lead and carry out God's will where other nations were concerned. God chooses leaders, not just in the Church, but also in other domains of life, as explained in Psalm 75:6-7: "No one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt themselves. It is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another."
God is then present to guide if they choose His help, but He holds those leaders accountable to act righteously in their positions. While some may restrict anointing to the Church world, this verse makes it possible for you to be an anointed banker, politician, military leader, school administrator, or any other position requiring a leadership role.
LEADERSHIP STEP: Where is your anointing? In other words, where do you serve and sense God is with you to help you, even if that leadership role is outside the church? The answers to these questions should impact your prayer life, as you help direct God's involvement in your sphere of influence. Your step today is to develop a prayer strategy that includes every aspect of your anointing, which may include things like your personnel decisions, marketing plans, and innovation, regardless of where you will express those activities and who will benefit from them.
