ANNUAL PRESIDENTIAL REPORT FOR THE 2018/2019 ACADEMIC YEAR DURING OUR ANNUAL SLSUC CONVENTION

Exactly one year ago, I was a candidate vying for the highest position in our darling SLSUC during which, I have enjoyed working with a formidable executive and a respectable general membership that have played great roles to ensure we achieve our climaxes by putting the union in the best form possible.

Today, I am here not as a candidate but as your president ready to unleash tremendous gains made during my tenure in the form of a report that captures our functions and activities as a union. This report captures the following said categories:

 HARMONIZATION

1. As once said by an Unknown writer in a quote, “Leaders instil in their people hope for success and a belief in themselves. Positive leaders empower people to accomplish their goals.”

Referencing the above quote, the harmonization process was indeed a success from God through the hands of peculiar leaders that crossed the lines ensuring our safety and welfare needs are met by following all the protocols of harmonizing all categories of CSC students in China. On this fight, I want to commend the Sierra Leone embassy in China for helping us make history. It is obvious that, as executives, no amount of words, publications and gazettes can alone make the harmonization possible but only teamwork with our highest representative in China should have indeed made that possible and because of the successes registered on officially harmonizing all CSC students, I want to officially extend our profound gratitude to H.E. CHIEF ERNEST NDOMAHINA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Sierra Leone Embassy in Beijing, China and the entire Embassy staffs for their awesome support for re-energizing the lives of the Sierra Leonean students in China. Your support has demonstrated that we are indeed far away from home but in our own home with peace and harmony.

Let it be known to the general membership that, this is first official harmonization done here in China where executives and the Embassy took the lead in making sure monies are in the pocket of all CSC students. Join me reiterate that, the road map for CSC Ministry, CSC Embassy and CSC online have all been harmonized under one payment scheme.

Let it be also known that out of Sierra Leone as support in grant from the government of Sierra Leone, this is the best and highest figure the government have ever paid subsidy for and we must be proud of this indelible achievement which is here to serve as benchmark and footprints for future executives as the platform is well set.

If there is any CSC student whose names wasn’t included, it is because the individuals refused to send their documents or rather never were following with our updates or they have simply removed themselves from the group and for which my executive isn’t to be blamed here.

CONTAINER: The success of every executive, squarely depends on the successful shipment on students learning materials and this we achieve on a 100% scale with a backlog container all paid for. As we have known as an executive that is good in backlog recovery, the two 40 feet containers from the Government of SierraLeone under the Leadership of H.E President Bio have demonstrated quality for education and promises fulfilled after his first visit to the P.R. China where he met hundreds of us as his heart was caught with melting speeches from the Head of Chancery, Sierra Leone Embassy in China and the President of the Sierra Leone Students Union in China respectively. For him to have reacted immediately by saying Minister of Finance “da money for go paopaly” is indeed a blessing to this union and national development.

Conclusively, I would be ungrateful to neglect the personal follow-ups from H.E the Ambassador and the Head Of Chancery, Sierra Leone Embassy in China during their holidays.

I would also be ungrateful to neglect appreciation for the First Secretary as he has been an interface through which I have been communicating every correspondence in both the fight for harmonization and container shipment.

I remain grateful to teamwork from my executive to have the resilience and courage in spearheading the required information from students which makes us have zero omission of names amongst the names sent.

I would be ungrateful not to acknowledge the phone calls and assistance rendered by my advisers Madam Aminata Bangura (Miss Bee), Mr Abdul Sandy and Mr Sulaiman Conteh during this fight. I remain grateful!

 ASSISTANCE RENDERED TO SIERRA LEONEAN STUDENTS

During our campaigns, we never gave promises that we haven’t achieved. Despite the SLG harmonization that wasn’t promised but fulfilled inshallah, the welfare of every Sierra Leonean student has been a huge concern in this administration. Demonstrating by example and referencing the scenario of Bami, a private student that was apprehended and salvaged by the SLSUC in collaboration with other Sierra Leoneans residing in China, is a huge stride taken to bridge the gap between the private students making them belong in the SLSUC.

Giving 1000 yuan aid isn’t commensurate to the life of our brother but the spirit of thinking love and unity as countrymen has been a huge part of us all. We believe our help, must have demonstrated the willingness amongst the private students to come out in their numbers to witness this august gathering of ours.

There is no 100% correct system, and that is why, we must have recorded some flaws by coming in late to help all and sundry but in general, great strives of unity have been achieved despite few uncertainties.

 EDUCATION HOUR

Excellence in education has been a pivotal call in the SLSUC since the inception of the founding members coming together to give birth to our darling SLSUC. We have exceptional students and alumnus of the SLSUC that have embarked on quality academic presentations and a path we have closely followed since the first time of office assumption.

My executive has been assiduous in academics and general life-saving presentations with many creative presenters on creative topics.

I will be ungrateful failing to acknowledge the roles played by the presenters. Thank you all for every time spent in this direction for selflessly serving the union.

 RELIGIOUS PROGRAMS

Maintaining a peaceful atmosphere and respect amongst the general membership, we have been embarking on religious tolerance that has allowed discretionary actions to be taken on the path of Allah/God.

 CIRCUMSTANCES

A functioning system must have some mistakes and errors to demonstrate a worthy fight before achievements and like this executive, we have two resignations which tampered our performance at some instance but with the resilience and zest amongst the executive, we were able to tackle all into a success.

 AIRPORT PICKUP

This year, just like every other year, we spent close to 5,000 yuan on student pickups as a way of showing love and solidarity in the SLSUC. Our regional reps have been helpful and kindly accept my thank you message. Special thank you to Madam Valerie Bockarie for your tremendous help during students arrivals.

Thank you all for coming as it is because of you all that the SLSUC have been in existence and will continue to be.

Lastly, my executive has been my best cheerleaders and grateful will be my watchword for the 2018/2019 SLSUC executive for the great achievements made together.
