Annual EU Conference, CILS & AILA GMS, Week of February 26, 2024

Looking forward to speaking at the Annual European Conference organized by CILS ( Center for International Legal Studies, Austria )and sponsored by AILA GMS (American Immigration Lawyer’s Association-Global Migration Section), being held in less than 2 weeks in the beautiful city of Amsterdam! As Discussion Leader for the conference panel topic on Role of Ethics in Global Mobility Practice Management, it has been fascinating to learn about Ethics rules for UK, Scotland & Wales, Ghana, Mexico, Switzerland. With my distinguished panelists, Grace McGill, Paa Kwesi Hagan, Adrian Ojeda and Nina Perch, we will explore applying ethics rules in the realm of client communications; record keeping; the challenges of practicing across multiple jurisdictions; last but not least, the unlawful practice of law by non-laywer staff. We will also examine whether global mobility practitioners should exercise a higher standard of broad ethics principles in the context of increased global migration due to regional conflicts, climate change, natural disasters and socio-economic hardship. Also thrilled that we will have an opportunity to visit The Hague and attend a presentation at the ICJ (International Court of Justice), among the fabulous social events planned around the conference!
