Announcing...the School of Human-Centered Thinking!

I'm starting a brand spanking new program to help folks like you apply all those badass systems thinking skills to the most challenging product of all: YOU.

It's "human-centered design for the parts of your life that aren't work" that younger me would have given her left kidney to participate in not that long ago.

Sleeping. Not doomscrolling on social media. Eating a few veggies here and there. Having a desk that isn't covered with piles of unopened mail. Actually replying to those texts from your college buddy.

Right now, this shindig doesn't have an official name, so I'm going to call it "The School of Human-Centered Thinking" until I come up with something better (I really believe in MVPs, y'all and the name isn't a core feature to launch).

You'll learn how to think like the best product and user experience pros, but instead of building apps and systems, you'll be designing a badass life, career, and/or business.

It's the same toolkit that transformed AirBnb from a Craigslist ad into an $87B category-creating company, gave us tiny toothbrushes for kid-sized hands, and made Febreeze one of P&Gs most successful brands after a hilariously awful initial launch.

They used a process that centers the real-world study of humans, in their environments, coupled with rapid iteration and experimentation.

I did this kind of stuff in the tech world for over a decade, and spoiler: it's just as useful for making changes in your personal life as it is for creating successful startups. I've been using bits and pieces of this approach with coaching clients for 3+ years now (shhh...I didn't tell anyone that's what I was doing), and the proof is in the "holy-crap-look-at-all-that-behavior-change" pudding.

I'm finalizing the pieces, but I'm thinking there will be two levels of engagement: the first will be for folks who want to use these skills to improve their personal ecosystem - habits, career, eating, working out, sleeping better, finally finishing that craft project, etc.

Both levels would include a combo of teaching and application, so this isn't intended to be a "listen and forget it" kind of deal. You will have devoted time and space to get hands on in applying what you're learning.

The higher level of engagement would be for professionals who also want to apply these same skills to their business or from a leadership position. It'd be a "yes, and..." situation, where you get all the personal stuff, plus an extra layer of business-focused mentorship from someone who used these tools to advise and teach Fortune 500 execs. CXL, whose self-professed mission is to "bring top 1% marketing know-how to everyone," hired me to create their user research course, which I still get positive feedback about four years later.

All this to say: I really know my shit and have a proven track record of using it to help people and honestly, the School of Human-Centered Thinking is clearly my destiny.

My goal is to kick things off in February, so if you think you might want to join the adventure, I want to hear from you!

One of the things you'll learn is how to listen, learn, and synthesize from different types of feedback and input, so this is me leading by example.

What are your questions? Thoughts? Concerns? How frickin' excited are you? Ask your questions and share in the comments below, and I will personally be responding to everyone!

Alternatively, get on the waitlist to be the first to know when you can sign up!
