Announcing our newest New York City hotel, The Merchant

Sonder has partnered with Kalimian Equities to manage and operate the newly constructed property at 139 Orchard as The Merchant. This new, 98-key hotel is scheduled to open in the fall this year.

Located on the corner of Orchard and Allen streets in one of the most coveted parts of the city for culture, food, and nightlife, The Merchant, will offer a variety of amenities, including a stunning rooftop terrace, and multiple food and beverage venues.?

The lobby will feature double-height ceilings, terrazzo floors, and custom millwork. All rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows, hand-crafted custom finishes, and stunning views of the surrounding neighborhood. Several rooms are equipped with private outdoor terraces overlooking the Lower East Side’s world-famous streetscape. A fitness center and guest lounge will also be available to all Sonder guests.

Guests will have access to Sonder’s tech-enabled experience, including contactless check in via the Sonder app, which enables guests to skip the front desk, as well as the ability to make requests such as early check-in or late-check out at the click of a button.

The deal was brokered by Aziz Kabbaj of Reshape. Sonder operates in 40+ markets across ten countries, and we have approximately 18,200 live and contracted units worldwide as of Q1 2023. We use technology to deliver a frictionless guest experience at a lower cost structure. The Sonder app puts guests in full control of their stay – from booking, to interacting with guest services, to check-out – via their own mobile device.
