Hey Everyone, Jon Younger PhD and I are beyond excited to share our next generation of Freelance Trend Tracker.
We were blown away by the initial pilot. 168 leaders, 48 countries, and 60 verticals.
Most important, we gained crucial insights on what's moving the needle for freelance adoption.
Take the below insights that I use daily.
Insights From Q4, '23 Trend Tracker
1. The leading factors of freelance adoption are (1) strong client relationships, (2) speed of sourcing, and (3) quality of talent.?
2. The leading skills for freelance adoption are (1) AI related, (2) data related, (3) strategy and transformation related.
3. The industry is healthy as 89% of leaders are confident in the growth of the freelance economy.
4. Governments are lacking.
We'll be giving our own analysis, as well as collecting yours, at the end of each quarter. Make sure to sign up to be invited to the event! ?

What’s next for Trend Tracker?
This current generation will enable customization and immediate impact. We have an incredible partner in Teamera that we are excited to build this with.
The next generation will (1) expand segments and (2) expand our data range.?
It’s deeper than data for me
Freelancer Trend Tracker starts to solve one of the most glaring problems I know we all face - isolation and fragmentation. We’re all on our own islands, solving seemingly our own problems, resulting in confusion for the client and ourselves. Which we all know is a contradiction, as there are over 800 platforms globally , with new solutions popping up daily. Yet the more the space grows, the more confused clients feel.
I think Trend Tracker starts to solve this by connecting all of us, prioritizing current, leader level data, and facilitating quarterly meetings for peers to connect over the data, their own performance, and their own challenges.??We'll be able to answer questions like what freelance skills or outcomes are moving the needle in specific industries, company size, etc? What's the role of technology, AI, and the next cutting edge disruption in the freelance economy? What platform's do what? What's a standard take rate? What’s working, what’s not working, and what should we keep our eye on?
I also love how it complements the great research already happening. MBO’s State of Independence Report , Upworks Freelance Forward , SIA’s Collaboration In The Gig Economy , and Jon’s Global Study on Freelancing , are all great resources that Trend Tracker complements (and many more).?
It also complements our study groups (next cohort starting this spring!) and existing data like our Industry Insights , Market Landscape , Podcast Transcripts , and Presentation Hub .??
