Announcing New Book

Announcing New Book

I'm pleased to announce the release of my new book, "THE EMPLOYEE ADVANTAGE: How Putting Workers First Helps Business Thrive" which is now available for pre-order.

As a behavioral economist and professor at Columbia Business School, I have extensively researched the connection between human motivation and business outcomes. I wrote The Employee Advantage because I believe that in order for leaders and organizations to succeed, we need a collective mindset shift toward prioritizing workers, especially against the backdrop of a rapidly shifting technology landscape.

Tech is Easy, Humans Are Hard

Successful organizations will be those who truly understand what motivates people and implement human-centric strategies. When I asked Jeff McMillan, head of AI at Morgan Stanley, about the most challenging aspect of adding AI to his organization, he didn't hesitate in his response. "Tech is easy, humans are hard!"

People Are the Heart of Success

While technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace, one fundamental truth remains unchanged: the key to sustainable success lies in understanding, nurturing, and empowering people within organizations.?

Combining insights from business strategy and behavioral economics, The Employee Advantage aims to equip leaders at all levels with an understanding of how to humanize work for competitive advantage, what motivates employees beyond financial incentives, and where technology can enhance these motivators.?

The Employee Advantage Newsletter

Alongside the release of my book, I am launching this monthly newsletter, where I’ll explore strategies, insights, and best practices for cultivating a human-centric approach in the workplace and fostering a future of work that prioritizes employees. I’ll discuss interesting ideas, the newest research, and the work that I do with the Humans in the Digital Economy?Lab at Columbia Business School (part of our Digital Future Initiative).

Please subscribe and invite your friends and your team so that they can do so too.

Work Should Be Fun

Every newsletter will also include one of my hand-made stop-motion LEGO videos. All the videos are related to concepts in my book.

Why LEGO videos? While writing the book and juggling all my other responsibilities, I was getting very stressed and desperately needed something to ground me. I came across this book?in an airport bookstore and embarked on a journey of meditative stop-motion movie-making. Brick by brick making the videos remind me that work can and should be fun and that we should not take ourselves too seriously. I hope you enjoy them too. ??

I hope you join me in embracing a more human-centric future of work. I look forward connecting with you here each month.
