Announcing my new book: Avoiding Pitfalls in Hybrid Scrum Environments.
Greetings! I’m very proud to announce that I’ve recently signed a contract with APress publishing to produce my first book. The working title is Avoliding Pitfalls in Hybrid Scrum Environments. We’re going through the editing process now and the tentative publication date is December of this year.
The pure Scrum Framework is very effective by itself, but for various reasons many organizations atempt to “adapt” it to meet the unique characteristics or their workplaces. Sometimes those adaptations are successful and sometimes they are dismal failures. The difference between success and failure has to do whether the adaptations are compatible with the underlying structure of the Scrum Framework.
To put it in simple terms, imagine the Scrum Framework as the hull of a boat. If you wish to modify the boat, be careful about where you drill any holes. It is ok to drill holes above the waterline. It is disasterous to drill them below the waterline.
My book attempts to describe what is optional and what is essential for the Scrum Framework to provide the benefits it is famous for. It covers both the traditional Scrum Framework for teams and common variations such as Scrum for Projects, Scaled Scrum and Scrum for Programs and Portfolios.
It has been fun writing this book. I hope it is an enjoyable read when it is out.
Best regards,
